So Skeff was on-camera for (hosting?) the CGC-sponsored giveaway on whatnot? Is that accurate?

Yes, it's crazy how this has seemed to been brushed over by everyone here, this guys one of the main culprits of the whole acetate "influencer" issue and here he is Hosting a CGC/Whatnot event, nothing like spitting in the face of your customers.

I guess CGC figures we'll give away some books and everyone will love use again.

And to make this worse someone was banned from the Jim Lee's show which is Jim's own channel supposedly and was told by CGC why he was banned so this keeps getting sketchier and sketchier by the day.

not to defend anyone of the people involved but the way they speak etc is how the youth speaks

they do an incredible job of relating to this market

so we can mock them as much as we want but they are making money

    no cap

I would agree with you but sounding like a prepubescent child to sell comic books to "youths" doesn't make any sense since the ones buying the books are mostly over the age of 30.

A friend of mine who has done exclusives in the past received this from Marvel:

    Subject: Clarification of Exclusive variants

    Hello everyone,

As you all continue to expand your businesses, we want to thank you for continuing to explore exclusive opportunities with Marvel through our exclusive retailer variant program.

By participating in our program, please remember that all cover artwork must be created and approved by Marvel. Once submitted and accepted, no retailer has permission to use these comics or art to create new products, edit, or change the published comic in any way. This of course pertains to all past and current comics.  We have updated our deal sheets for all retailer variant cover requests moving forward to emphasize these points.

As always, thank you for everything you do, and we appreciate your cooperation and continued support!

    Best,

    David

Does this mean Black Flag found a loophole and Marvel had to "update our deal sheets" to reflect that??

The drama from this is not easing up at all. Between YouTubers/Social Media people fighting to now even guys like Liefeld putting in their thoughts. I would have thought by now this would somewhat have blown over, but it probably will not.

It shouldn't blow over if anything I think we as a community haven't screamed enough about CGC's involvement in this, they've really gotten away with just a hand slap.

All of this nonsense has just been stewing and stinking for the past couple days, but where I'm at now is I just don't understand how CGC can be so willing to make exceptions on this stuff, no matter what their reasoning is. Like, whatever sort of grading company you want to run, there's no escaping the fact that as much as we cry when our books come back shy of 9.8, we all want to know that the grades are earned, that the grading methods are strict, that there's absolutely no monkey business. When something like this abomination shows up at CGC, how in the multiverse does the decision wind up being to let it slide? Who wants to be the grading company known for letting dubious or suspicious things slide like this? No one picks CGC because they're the fun guys who grade wacky invisible comics. How is any amount of money from some bobo fly-by-night publisher like Black Flag worth a decision that isn't the conservative route? How is it not that every decision made by CGC errs on the side of caution? If you're extra strict on a weird book and/or give it a green label, well, you can always change your policy if it turns out you were wrong, and customers can resubmit for the upgrade. But why would you risk certifying something or giving it a high grade if there's even the slightest hint of impropriety? There's no way to get people do volunteer for downgrades, so you just become the company whose grades aren't always right. At the end of this timeline, CGC 9.9s are the new PGX 9.8s.

Just because this needs to be seen again.

I like how the completely ignored the question as to how all 3 covers received the same ration of the grades.

    They must've missed that one.......

or they'll respond with an answer to that in another 40-50 pages, need some time to think up some more crap.

I don't know if the acetates were put on when the original 2000 variant covers were produced or recently. If someone has information on that, it will add some context. I can tell you that I have had 500 modern books graded in the last three months, and the modern grading tier is not a seasoned group overall. It seems more like a rookie mistake or misunderstanding about how to grade these than a conspiracy. It seems like they are grading them like metal covers rather than double covers. There are aspects of this that I don't like that have nothing to do with CGC and more to do with greed.

The conspiracy is the fact that they have 3 different acetate books on the census and they all have the same amount of books graded with all the same grades 10's 9.9's and 9.8's

The Stray Dogs Acetate was manufactured by the publisher, Image, whereas the UF4 was altered by Black Flag. The Stray Dogs Acetate has a unique barcode and a $12.99 cover price versus the Stray Dogs cover A price of $3.99. The UF4 is an admitted recycled facsimile book from 2021. Outside of having 4 staples there is nothing, I repeat, nothing similar about the origins of these books.

But set all that aside, can someone explain to me how 274 copies of Stray Dogs Acetate can be on the census and there is not a single 10.0 or 9.9? But Black Flag can submit 30 books, known so far, and have 3x10.0s, 11x9.9s among the 3 titles? So 0 out of 274 for a legit published book to grade above 9.8 but 14 out of 30 for retailer altered books.

This is the smoking gun right here.......explanations are in order CGC.

All ten books in last my submission fit these criteria easily or i would not have submitted them especially moderns. I think CGC likes all the confusion???? It's like one barley visible defect, automatic 9.6,two small defects 9.4 etc, etc.

At this point I think CGC needs to remove the 10.0 and 9.9 from this and just slide the 9.8and rest up to their descriptions so the list starts at 9.8.

Hello, I checked the tracking number and that was received in our office.  If this was submitted just with a creator agreement and no form, then our Signature Series department will reach out to you to obtain the necessary information.  You can email them at: signatureseries@cgccomics.com and they can let you know exactly what information they need.  Thanks!

Tried that already they told me they don't have the package. Obviously it's been opened so the delay to get to the SS team has me concerned.
