I haven't had a problem with baking parchment paper. I've been using these:

Thank you, looking very closely along the spine I can see that the color didnt quite match. Along the right side I think someone colored in the Hulk's head, although I don't see a clear color mis-match.
No grading for this book then, itll be my reader copy.

Had one very similar, came back 7.0 after a quick press. I initially paid $130, so it depends on the asking price.

I use CLZ for mobile and Comic Collector for my PC. You can sync between them.
The cost is pretty reasonable (~$15 per year for each), and it's my favorite cataloging software for comics.

I use an app called PhotoScan on my phone. It helps with glare.

They really hammered the grade over that back cover. Looks much better than a 7.0. It also looks like your LCS did not do a great job with the press.
Yeah, I probably wouldn't use them again for pressing. I think mostly it was the back cover though.

is there color loss over the UPC or is that flash from a camera?
The BC ledge looks rough. The rip and a few color breaking spine tics, 8.0 seems about right.
I think that's just glare from the light on the UPC, there no color loss.
I'd be pretty happy with an 8.0, but I think that tear and crease might hurt.

Grader Notes:
heavy creasing to cover
heavy spine stress lines to cover
heavy staining to cover
heavy tape residue
heavy tape stain
light pieces out to cover
moderate tears to cover
re-attached with tape coverComments: Spine of cover completely split & re-attached with tape
Here are the PGX notes:
Hulk #1 - 6" spine split, multiple stress lines along the spine, significant cover/edge/spine wear, cover attached to book by tape, spine reinforced with tape.
I'm happy with the results, just wanted to post.

Received my 1st crossover book back
Hulk #1 PGX 1.5
to
Hulk #1 CGC 0.5 (Universal, blue label, whew!)
Happy I got a blue label, kinda expected a grade drop. I don't know how the book managed a 1.5 before, but was hoping for 1.0. oh well. Book is complete, that was the other thing I was worried about.

Looking at the bottom staple. I can't see any other signs of color touch besides this.
Here is the listing:
Thanks all!

Incredible Hulk 104 and 105, and Sub-Mariner #23, by Marie Severin. At the Seattle Comic Convention, before it became Emerald City Comicon. I think it was 1995 or 96.
She had these to purchase as well, and I had one personalized with my name. Unfortunately, it disappeared along with some comics during a cross country move.

I think it's a worthwhile risk. It's not going to go down, and the added worth of a 9.8 is significantly greater than the lost cost of regrading/pressing.
Isn't going down a possibility, though? I've read of pages going from white to W/OW in the case. There is also the subjectivity of the grader to take into account.
I'll probably do it though, unless I get a good trade offer at the next comicon.

I've had this book since the 90s and had it graded in 2001. As such, I don't think it's ever been pressed. I don't know that it would benefit.
CGC notes say:
"Center Spine Small Stress Lines Breaks Color
Front Cover Lite Multiple Finger Bends"Do the stress lines disqualify a 9.8?

I am unsure about the size of the hole. Can you specify it?
The actual hole itself is pretty small, probably about 1/8th -1/4 inch diameter. I often wonder if I should remove the tape myself and uncover the hole. There would also be a tape pull around the hole.
