  1. What the hell is this "77 (492)" stuff? (I think I might shy.gif know.)

Sincere question. I haven't bought any moderns in about 5 years.

That was the whole Marvel renumbering thing. Tried to relaunch titles with #1 issues, then after a couple years phased that out and went back to each title's original numbering... the transition issues had both numbers on the cover.

    Ah, thanks. I was right.

  2. Tought I share my recent score with the Bronze Horror thread. My second Nick Cardy horror cover.

nice! if the ghouls don't get him, when he takes his next step he won't need to worry anyway!

I'm developing a real appreciation for Cardy's work. I think he's highly underrated. Nice cover. thumbsup2.gif

  3. I have no idea what the GPA is on this book, but this seems high.

    A 9.6 maybe, but certainly not a 9.4.

I'm fully aware that I might be way off base here, but it seems very high.

I sold a 9.4 white of that book for $1250 or $1300 in 2004 so that is not far off.

I wouldn't have guessed that particular book is so hard to find in 9.4. Perhaps it is. confused-smiley-013.gif

    Congrats on the sale 893applaud-thumb.gif

  4. What frustrates me the most are these posters who tell us how we should act? If we post a funny response then that’s the reason no one of importance comes to these boards. If we get pissed and start a mob mentality than that's the reason no one of importance comes to these boards. And if we choose to ignore the thread then we aren't giving it the respect it deserves and that the reason no one of importance comes to these boards.

What I find the most amusing is that we just created more drama in this thread then either of the original posters did because some people feel the need to tell us how childish we all are and therefore no one of importance while ever comes to these boards.

I don't know if this is directed at me or not, but all I'm saying is be polite to people. Is that so wrong?

  5. You can call all you want. I'm not putting the man on a pedestal. Everyone on here is dying to have guys like this on the boards but many of these people don't have the couth to properly welcome somone. The guy writes a large 1st post in response to what has now become a public debate, and you see posts like this on the first pages to welcome the guy:

    ughhh try some paragraph breaks

With respects to everyone, I have to agree. Over on the WTB forum, one guy is looking for high grade Superman's from 1-300. Check out some of the negative responses there?

What is so hard about being civil to people? Oh wait, this is the internet. Silly me.

  6. I see books listed on there that aren't even the highest graded copies and yet the asking price is more than double of the highest graded copy on GPA!

    Why is that? confused-smiley-013.gif

I was wondering the same thing when that 9.6 Ghosts # 2 went up for I think about $1400 or close to that.

They're probably hoping that someone will pull the trigger on that absurd price. I guess I can't fault anyone for trying.

  7. Here's a fun thing to do at your next big con.... get a checklist of all the USS Stevens and BKGOW stories, and look for super-beaters of those issues for a buck or less. Then, take them to a quick print palce to get them trimmed and bound. That's one nice package.

    Shep

    That's not a bad idea actually laugh.gif

  8. Glanzman is so underrated. I really believe that he is a great artist, and his early work on the Haunted Tank (before he started inking Ayers' pencils) is some of the best DC bronze age war art.

Yeah, definitely underrated. I'll have to post a pic of my Glanzman GI Combat splash page.
