  1. St. Louis is the Gateway to the West. Here is St. Louis, I live in the shadow of the Arch. I call it the Arch. Others call the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. St. Louis has a thriving collecting community, including a group of collectors who have been meeting bi-monthly for (almost?) 20 years. My apologies to SAGA member reading this as I don't have the historical stuff in front of me. Recently, there have been a number of shops start operating in the area. St. Louis has numerous yearly comic shows and has been the site for one of the largest comic auctions ever. Truly, as my friend Mike Phoenix writes, St. Louis is Comics' Second City. But we all have to live in the shadow of the Arch.
  2. Fawcett and Barks I first found my love of those books while on vacation. Check out my registry to see some examples. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  3. Continued Not to act a martyr, but I think it's a little weird that my strike was given and it was 3 hours later that Nerf got his. Public pressure much, guys? Of course, the correct action would have been to not give me a strike at all and dish one out the person actually trolling. But we all know that, absent one un-banning, no mod decision has ever been reversed. It's ok to admit you're wrong from time to time. Embrace your faulty side. Weak sauce deleting the journal posts. You're going to say they were OT? Take a quick perusal through what's posted here. You guys (girls?) are suffering from a little absolute power syndrome. 4. Wally posted a football thread. I mistakenly thought it was safe to post about football within same thread. I did so. Wallace didn't like what I posted and accused me of lying and a litany of other things. I responded (summary as both sets are now gone) that he should hurl his insults in person. Posts were pulled and I continued along my merry way. Apparently the mods were reminded of the nude pics (or other incriminating evidence) that Nerf must have over them, vis a vis a crack-monkey-like mod button humping. A strike ensued. Nevermind the guy who actually was trolling me or the name calling he did. Nope. Excuse me whilst I climb upon my cross. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 5. Alternative ways to communicate The fact that you tolerate a hate speech bigot not only as a member, but as a past recipient of Forumite of the Year, is ridiculous. Instead, people who disagree with him or actually respond to his name calling, etc., are the ones who get punished. In my absence, why don't you do us all a favor and actually post what I posted and what Nerf posted? Put it to a vote as to who was in the wrong. I never made any threats. I just asked that if he was going to, unprovoked, call me a liar that he should do so to my face. I'm not going to fight him. He's got 100lbs on me. It wouldn't be fair. I've said it time and time again, I'll gladly take any strike issued to me if it was deserved. This one wasn't. Instead, his trolling posts are deleted. Mine in response are deleted and I'm the one with the strike. Good job. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
