  1. This board is always so pessimistic. This is a beautiful 26. Generally 25 and 26 were well read issues and show it. This particular issue (the ones i've seen) have a tanning problem on the outer border, something very slight on this copy.

Solid 8.5 maybe on a good day you get 9.0.

  2. I think a great  many images  are of  really highly graded  books. The 9.6 and  9.8. Now i don;'t know  when  the writer was a  little boy  and acquired  his comics but 8 is a really good grade for books from  the 60's. I  thin  when we get to the 90's  is  when we find the super  high  grades. So your 8's  may  indeed be  really  good  grades.

Btw. I had an FF 42 graded that came back  as an  8.  I still  can't detect the  problems. Book  is glossy with white  pages.  You  can  however tell it was  read.  The  9.6 and  9.8 i have are unread.

Wait -- what struck you was the Thing with the Beatles hair?  For years I've been obsessed wondering where Johnny found a wig that would survive being placed on his flaming head.

ha. Its a comic. suspend disbelief. The Thing looks so  much worse.  But  you're right.

    Favorite Eel Moment:

From Marvels; Phil Sheldon's daughters playing superheroes and being grossed out at the mere mention of The Eel. "Ick!"

all those  early Torch/Thing Strange Tales had  great  covers. Except maybe  the Beatles  issue. seeing the  Thing  with that  hair......

as a seller I will let a potential buyer see any book that they ask to see. If the book isn't that valuable I will even let them open it themselves. If the book is important/ valuable I will open it for them to see.

Something from a seller's point of view:

Over the course of several years ( 8-10 years ) I have a guy that requests to open and inspect every single book he is "considering". He looks through every single page from front cover to back, then puts it back into the bag. The problem? He has never bought anything from me in well over 20 shows. How many books should I allow him to "read" before I tell him to move on from my booth?

tell him get lost and  haunt somebody  else. Its  certainly your right.

  6. dealers at cons have to expect customers to want to examine a book.  Especially a book at  lower prices simply  because a  book like that will be at several stands and a buyer will want to buy the issue that presents the most bang for his buck.

I can't say i ever bought books like  that at a Con. I like to find more difficult books and later on in the week when its easier to get a  bargain.
