  1. As for me, i keep mine in a magazine bag with magazine size backerboard. i also keep them laying flat, not upright in a box. Like I said though, that works for me. I do the same thing... The only reason I lay mine flat is b/c I don't have enough similar sized books to stand them up anywhere... same with vinyl... you don't want to stack different sizes lest the smaller books create impressions or rolls on the larger books. If I had enough magazine sized books, I'd stand them up, but for now, American Splendor and TMNT are all I've got, so in a stack they sit.
  2. I'd say go in order... and grab the Fugitoid one-shot... I'd never read that before this most recent TPB came out; it was fun. but also volume 4 has, in my opinion, been fantastic and the print-run is lower than TMNT 1 on (at least) the last 2 issues! (1000 copies each, I *think*) You can still get an almost complete set directly from Mirage for cover price... issues 9 & 10 are particularly good with that big event being very well handled.
  3. congrats! I bet you didn't have to pay much more than the going prices for that recent TPB!
  4. Tristan Jones' double-signed copy (writer of the most recent Tales) that he graded as VF (but potentially FN... fantastic looking FN book if that's what it is!!) just went for $915 http://cgi.ebay.com/Eastman-Laird-TMNT-Ninja-Turtles-Vol-1-1-SIGNED_W0QQitemZ320460196411QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4a9cea8a3b#ht_500wt_924
  5. for me it's a lack of funds... I'd love to pick up some more copies of this, but I'm just broke as hell, so it doesn't matter how low it goes...
  6. nice score, Shark2557! Did any of you guys buy the Michelangelo: The Third Kind mini series? My issue number 3 has 8 interior pages that are completely blank. I emailed Dan Berger about this when it first came out, and he was unaware of any misprint... anyone else have this happen? Or have you heard of it?
  7. I had no idea it was even popular until after the 3rd issue came out, and I came back to play on these boards. Have just been ordering from DCBS and not doing anything else comic related at all. Was kind of neat to find out that something I'd ordered was actually liked by a lot of people.
  8. that sucks, but isn't this considered mail fraud? and *almost* grand theft... you should have options here... thanks for the heads-up
  9. goodness, you guys are crazy... here's my Chew set that will put you all to shame (sans #5 b/c I haven't scanned it yet) I read them all, tossed them in mylite2's and then into the short boxes. So take that!
  10. wow... those are some nice books... I have a raw SE in like VFNM, and a few random issues... I want to work on this run after I finish TMNT. Are you guys reading the current Mangalicious series? I'm, honestly, pretty bored with it. One more issue to go tho, and I kind of just wish it was already over. I am, however, pretty excited for the new ongoing! That's next month, right?
  11. what's more special about the Lobo's Back TPB?
  12. I'm ok with the trend of cheap vol. 1 TPB's being followed up by more expensive second volumes... it definitely makes it more likely that I'll pick up something and maybe end up following it... Also with DC doing all the $1 first issues... Comics are becoming more and more like drugs every day...
  13. He can put out 18 comics per year... but he said that it's unlikely that we'll see anything in the near future as the thought of working on anything TMNT leaves him "cold." ouch...
  14. and my second post in over year goes to the reason I came searching the boards... So long, TMNT... Congrats to Peter, but DAMN I was really really hoping for a nice solid ending to Vol. 4. I guess I can still hope since he retained those rights, but this is sad news for the green geeks among us.
  15. not sure how I missed this thread... DD is my favorite Marvel title and the only run I've collected all of! I actually sold my VG #1 a while back and am looking for an upgrade... here's hoping this weekend's show pays off!
  16. Plus we get that other character's definitive artist drawing AND writing our book!
  17. I sent a big colored picture of Spawn into Wizard hoping to get it published... I'm definitely not an artist tho. This was the best thing I'd ever drawn (especially with color!) I spent weeks and weeks on it and finally got up enough nerve to send it in. It was a tough decision b/c I knew I wouldn't get my drawing back, but I really thought it was going to get printed, so I decided that would be ok. Of course, I did not get published... and did not get my picture back. boo. I stopped drawing Spawn after that and started trying Battle Angel Alita.
  18. that's pretty neat, kidcolt... I've never seen or heard of that before. Hail, Hail!
  19. yay! Never been part of a club before... certainly not one that is this exclusive! Man, I can't wait for the read-along...
  20. I've never seen or heard of this before... I absolutely love that cover. Awesome!
