  1. wow nice book man. When and how'd you get the Miller sig...i thought he signs like once every leap year? Sorry for the delay in replying, it was done back in '06. February, I think.
  2. This one just came in the mail from Cosimo through eBay. It's a 9.6, which is the highest graded for this book in CGC SS (I'm looking for one of the two universals now). It's signed on the cover by Frank Miller and the interior by David Mazzucchelli. It's the only book I've ever seen signed by both!
  3. This just arrived, you're going to look at it and say, 'What the.....? Why did you buy that?" It's by Ashley Wood from a Bendis/Niles story. It came out of Hellspawn #6 and featured what would have been the return of Miracle Man. This is the page that was to have re-introduced the character. The man sitting is Michael Moran, MM's alter ego. The blank panel had Michael Moran's signature in it (computer generated?) in the book. Anyhow injunctions ensued and Miracle Man did not appear in Hellspawn in the next issue. It's not a spectacular page unto itself, but it is a cool piece of comics history.
  4. Why isn't Steve Borock starting any sales threads anymore? He has the advantage of having his name in blue, so I can find his posts quickly.
  5. Sorry, I love storytelling...... Looking for the Ren and Stimpy piece, I found another one from SDCC 2006 by John Romita Sr. I waited in line for the HERO Initiative's signing with him. He would sign all you wanted for any donation to HERO. Most fans were both reasonable and generous with only one or two books for anywhere from $5-$50. The guy directly in front of us was the exception. He had almost a short box full of books and gave a buck. One lousy buck. John smiled and signed away. All the while my wife was chatting Mrs. Romita up and they were having a grand time. I finally got my turn, dropped $50 in and asked for a sketch on a backboard. He said he just couldn't right then and quickly signed it. His wife said he could do a quick one to which he said no again. She said, "do the Spidey eyes, you can do that quick" to which he looked at me with an expression of "does your wife do this sort of thing to you too?" and whipped out some Spidey eyes. His wife said, "See? That was quick, but they're small. Put some Spidey sense around them." He chuckled and went back to work doing some quick webbing. I asked if I could get a picture in between people in line to which he agreed. He has to be one of the genuinely nicest guys in the business. Then end results are below.
  6. I got this in San Diego 2006. We were wandering around the convention floor and one of the reps from Every Picture Tells A Story that we had spoken with earlier caught us and asked if we would like to meet John K. My wife had no idea who he was, but I confirmed that she meant John Kricfalusi, creator of Ren and Stimpy. The rep said "yes" and we were on our way. We about three places back in line with this kind of cute but nerdy looking girl in front of us. She was obviously giddy. She met John K. and immediately handed him a comic book of her own creation. He looked at it for a second and said "Oh wow, YOU do this?" she said yes and he continued, "I have your site saved as one of my favorites!, I love your stuff!" He went on and on about her work while we waited. I didn't mind, it was really cool to see a fan's obvious hero become a fan of the fan. They went on for what felt like forever before he did a sketch for her and gave her his phone number and private email address. My wife was next and she got a sketch for my brother and then I got one. I asked for Fire Dogs, to which he kind of mumbled, "Not one of mine, but okay......" I explained I was a fire fighter and that seemed to make it okay. Here's the final result......
  7. Love the Simpsons! The Joker is very cool, too.....is that Bill Sienkewicz?
  8. This is my latest acquisition. It's from Marvel Two-in-One #49 by Alan Kupperberg and Gene Day. It's nothing fancy, but it's got The Thing with his stogie, which is one of the images I will always have from this era of comics. The geniuses that I bought it from put it in a cheap-o frame and taped it to the paper that came with the frame. Thankfully, they seem to have done it just recently as it all came loose without any damage or effort.
  9. I like those! Animation stuff is cool, but seems to be harder to collect especially now that it's all done on those damn computers. I've got an ATHF poster signed by most of the folks involved with the show somewhere and a Ren and Stimpy sketch by John K. I'll see if I can post scans......eventually!
  10. BEHOLD! These two arrived yesterday from CGC. Big thanks to Will/unknownworlds for the hard work he put into getting these for me........
  11. :applause:A huge THANK YOU goes out to Will/unknowonworlds for getting these two done for me at FanExpo. I was excited that the Nightmare book held its grade and even more excited to see then end result on the BSG book, as I thought it was only about a 9.2-9.4 but it was all I could find in time to get it done.
  12. I operate on 30-35 hours of sleep a week, I can't give any more.
  13. To answer the question in the most direct way I can, having a baby has pretty well removed any time I would have devoted to my collection. I don't read anymore for fear of damage to the books either by Peanut or by me while trying to watch him. I don't get to bag and board like I want for the same reason....fear of mis-handling. So without bags and boards, I can't really get very organized and it all goes down hill from there. I'm not blaming him in any way. I wouldn't change our decision for the world, but it's been very trying and frustrating on the comics front. I just want a couple of days to try and get things organized in the comics room, but it doens't seem likely any time soon. On the other hand, I love being "Da-da," so really my priorities have just shifted a bit. Someday, I'll get organized again and it won't take days or even weeks to find books.
  14. I'll have to pull my Avatar out again, I thought there was the cover image surrounded by other "new" material. It's still a single page with no story, but I really thought it was more than just the cover.
  15. I've always thought the Goon was just a more comedic Hellboy. I love both and I'm not saying Eric Powell is barrowing from anyone, just some similar elements around a big tough guy.
  16. All right campers, I just figured out the "Attachments" so look out! The first is one of the earliest I found, coming from the New Republic in May of 1939, less than one year after Superman's debut.
  17. My first go-round at college, I had a long break between classes in the morning. I lived off-campus, so going home wasn't an option. I would study when I needed to, then head off to the library to find comic-related items in magazines and such. The downside was that they were usually on micro-fische, the upside is I made copies of all that I could find. I'm off to the garage to find that sweet orange folder........
  18. Can you smell my jealousy? Very cool books! (thumbs u
  19. That is a huge bummer. I figured he might pop up at a show near you sometime.
  20. I finally got these up! They're right here! Thank you again Kris!
  21. More "catch-up" books..... These all came courtesy of thecollector. I had posted kudos sometime back, but had never found the time to get these posted. He's still working on a couple of others for me. First up is DC Millennium Edition of Sensation Comics #1. I believe Irwin Hasen and Sheldon Moldoff are the only living creators for this book. If anyone has a line for Shelly, I'd appreciate it! Next is the Millennium Edition of Detective #38 by Jerry Robinson! I'm almost as thrilled with this book as I with my Joker sketch by Robinson! The last one is the Millennium Edition of Showcase #4 signed by Carmine Infantino and Joe Kubert. Why did Joe Kubert sign this book? He inked the cover! Who knew? I know getting Joe's signature wasn't easy and I really appreciate the effort!
  22. I haven't had time to scan and post in quite awhile, so here's a few to help me catch up! First up is a BIG THANK YOU to Par2ch! He got Brian O'Halloran (he played Dante in the movies) for me on the original Clerks comic! Next is another BIG THANK YOU to Peter and the crew at Paradise Comics. We had some trouble with these, but they worked hard and made it happen and got it back to me! FF's Lost Adventure signed by Stan Lee and Joe Sinnott Anyone that actually know me knows I'm a huge Hellboy fan. These next three are cool in that I didn't realize what I had done. I bought each one seperately and the purchases were spread out over months. It wasn't until I was getting things in order that I realized I had all three covers CGC SS'd! Pirate sold me the first one signed by Doug Jones (Abe Sapien), which I had been lusting after for some time.....(I was lusting after the book, just to be clear) The other two are eBay books. The first is signed by Selma Blair (Liz Sherman), Doug Jones (Abe Sapien), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Mike Mignola, Guillermo del Toro (director), Luke Goss (Prince Nuada). The second is signed by Mignola and del Toro.
