  1. so it turns out what I thought was colour rub actually appears to be a print defect in some copies of this book - https://www.ebay.ca/itm/304324900714

does cgc take that kind of thing into account when they grade? (I hope so?). If so, does it change anyone's grade or is it still 7.5? I feel like it would at least push to an 8.0 but might be off. (I don't think I'll get this graded, but I got it for a good price so maybe).

  2. Thanks all. So I took a closer look at it, and somehow I missed that it had a pulled staple through the cover - detached lower cover. Blerg. Somehow I missed it when I bought it at the con. Reminder to me to be more careful (and remember that not all dealers note defects, and to be fair he might have missed it too, he has a lot of books). blerg. Also didn't pay a lot for it so a good lesson for me and thought I'd share. Sometimes I get lost in the weeds and just miss something major.

See this is where things get weird, some of the books seem like they were pressed and others don't seem like it. So, I do not know. I got charged for all but maybe I'll crack and resubmit?

I mean you might get it to a 9.2. Personally I don't trust CGC to press books so use someone local and review the books before sending, but live in a big city where there are options, not everyone has that I know.

  4. Front cover -  a little bend in the top above the M in COMICS GROUP; a tiny scratch above I in Astonishing Tales; multiple tick marks down the spine; roughed up bottom left corner, some soiling. Back cover: corresponding tickmarks, a little bit of dirt, a finger bend at top middle. That line through the "o" in "Look who's smiling now" is actually just a hair that I removed after the scan. (incidentally, I feel like that guy's photo is what most people picture when they picture a psychopath).

  5. Front cover: many little issues, creasing along top, lots of ticks, a little tear on the spine. Biggest issue is the chunk torn out of the bottom right corner. Back cover is in good shape except for a little crease/tear - in the bottom left - you have to zoom in to see it's not actually missing. It's actually torn about 80% of the way through, barely hanging on when I 'unfolded it' after this scan. At best, it'll be a small tear, at worse it'll fall off. (I put it back in the bag with the cover facing the board, and upside down, to minimize stress of putting it in bag).

  6. Front cover - creasing (especially top right, but also sides) some dirt, scratches, marks. Bottom left has a gnarly little crease/scratch into it. Back cover is very dirty but intact; biggest issue is some staining on top right corner; it bleeds through to back of the cover, but not onto the second page. Staining is something I'm still learning about. Much thanks.
