Here's an example of what I think is 'tape pull' -- under the date. I paid $3.00 for this copy mainly to try to understand the impact of tape pull on this otherwise pretty good copy (some spine stress but I think could be lessened by a press). I really don't know what the impact is going to be, and thanks in advance to the group.

Lots of little things going on here - front cover - some colour rub in the top left by the date, some spine ticks but too bad, a small crease in top right corner, a larger crease in bottom right. Back cover has a tear of of 1/5" and a finger bend above it. I have a number in mind just curious to see what the impact is.

Front cover isn't too bad -- top right corner, some spin ticks, small bend on right side, larger tear/bend on right side
Back cover is messing up my grading abilities: there's some ticks and minor tears, but then there's what I think is rat chew on the bottom middle; it goes through the book getting smaller and smaller from the back to just before the centrefold. Looks to me like either rat or insect chew, but I don't have a lot of examples of what that looks like exactly.

Looks nice - C&P to a 7.5/8.0 is my vote. Colours look great.

I think those spine issues are going to hit the book harder than you think, and the back is pretty dirty but maybe it will all be cleaned off. I'd put it at an 8.0 with a C&P (happy to be proven wrong by the group or CGC).

I also said 9.4 (before scrolling down to the group). Looks like there's something there in the FBLC and I think I saw some spine issues. Could be a 9.6 though it's hard for me to tell when it gets up to these numbers.

When I looked at this last night my gut reaction was 1.5 and I still agree with that.
I feel like most books in that condition would get a 1.5. That one I feel would get a 1.8. I think we could crowdfund the cgc submission just to satisfy my curiosity.

I can't even with this book right now. Unbelievable to see it unslabbed.Thank you for that. I'm out of my depth here. I'm thinking a 1.8/2.0 mainly because that backcover is pretty rough and I don't know how hard cgc will hit it even though the front cover is pretty nice. Curious to know the story behind how you go it. But I'm a neophyte so please go with the group's suggestion, this is just my thought.

Nice book but I see more issues - FCBR has an issue, BCTL has something, looks like a finger bend in the middle of the front cover too (can't tell). holes are bindery tears, not an issue. 7.5/8.0 with a press.

A good trade should feel like no one got a steal and no one got ripped off. To quote Comic book guy: I deem this trade rack-worthy.

agreed on 8.5/9.0. Not a lot of sales to go by but at an 8.5 I'd say you're down just a smidge factoring in cgc fees and in a 9.0 you're at least broke even maybe in the money a smidge. A perfectly fair trade is what I say. (note I'm assuming your $240 valuation is accurate).

agreed on 7.5. As an alternative, I might suggest Spectacular spider-man #27. You can buy a mint of that book for a reasonable price. (first frank miller daredevil artwork).

solid 7.5; possible 8.0

To obtain a proper grade estimate you will need to remove the book from the bag and take pics of the front cover, rear cover, close ups of the spine/corners, inside front and rear covers and centerfold.
Books are graded by their overall condition, the color breaking crease at the bottom right is not allowed in any grade above FN/VF 7.0, if this is actually a higher grade book, it will take a hit due to the color breaking crease, how much depends on the overall grade of this book.
Agree on removing it from bag - and scans are better than pictures in my experience. I think for CGC grading they are more lenient on creases, I have definitely seen a 9.0 with a color breaking crease.

oh those all black covers.. such a killer. 9.2 maybe 9.4
-
That lower spine has some issues (colour rub perhaps) but a lovely book - 8.0 maybe dare I say 8.5
-
8.5 in my opinion (and scored it that before scrolling down)
-
I have a hard time seeing this in the 9.2 range with two tears. 8.5/9.0 but would need to see more photos.
