I believe it was listed as a splash page.

Consider calling Josh at ComicLink and see if he would be willing to approach the buyer on your behalf.

Me too. I grab the two Frazetta paintings Frank did of his kids.
And, then make sure there is no evidence of me setting the fire....
Ron, you are a TRUE friend!!! I know you will always have my back!

This was in Charlie Crane’s collection.
It’s been for sale in auction before. forgot which auction however.
I was told by another collector that it had been "offered for sale" previously but had no takers. I'll have to dig out the old Sothebys and Christies catalogs and try and refresh my memory.

I detect a bit of Frazetta, too. They need to add Fritz's name to the list . . . and maybe Steranko. Steranko would be good.
I was told Banksy contributed to the background art

I don’t believe so. The cover was acquired in trade from another dealer. There were no interior pages involved in the trade.

A heck of a lot more than I would be willing to pay. Could see this hit 75-100k if not more. Clearly the Sal Buscema contribution may push it over the top. There are collectors who LOVE first appearances......

It is.
I sold this a couple years ago. It’s been offered at SD last year or the year before. Not by me.

Thanks for jogging the memory Mitch. It did look familiar. Now I remember seeing it at SDCC.

This one is also hand-colored so sky is the limit.
I agree with Scott, no Hobbes may be a detraction for some bidders.

Funny, a friend just sent me this pic a couple of days ago and it made me think of this thread.
He printed out results for all the eBay auctions he followed from 1998-2002 and filed them away. He's got several other boxes just like this.
I'll see if he'll share more here.
Wow. Reminds me that I did the same thing in the infancy of ebay. Problem was that after filling several boxes and making several housing moves I felt it was more trouble than it was worth. Taken to the local dump and lost forever!

Let’s start with this classic cover by the master of design and color- L.B. Cole. Such a gorgeous cover for the grade! Excellent centering and structure. Very clean cover with no stamps, writing or other ink marks.
Cole’s favorite background color was black. This was his first cover with a solid black background.
This is a very difficult issue to own in any grade. Only five graded comics have come to auction in the last five years.
Gerber 7.
I'll take it!

And the doorbell just rang and it was....Fedex delivering this package. So maybe that is why the error message was given. SOOOO ignore everything I have said in this thread
Funny you say that. My package was scheduled for delivery Monday and made plans to have someone available to receive the package. I got home from running weekend errors today and there was a large Fedex box left outside my garage!!! Oh well.

I'm sure HA will do a press release on it eventually but does anyone have intel on what the "Great American Comic Strip" auction on Feb 26th is all about?
I consigned some strip art to them recently and see that it showed as being part of that auction. Other than that, nada.

Had a similar experience recently. I share your pain and frustration.

In the pre-COVID days it might have been cheaper to hand deliver and fly to Ireland. Aer Lingus has/had cheap flights to most of Ireland from many major eastern cities.
