  1. Auction is officially open for bids. GL cover is already at 115K!
  2. Terry What was your understanding of the reason why Mad 8 cover did not sell?
  3. These catalogs are a great look into the past. I particularly love looking at the Kamen covers. They are virtually non-existent in today's market with his son Dean buying them up.
  4. Terry These are great posts. The cover to HOF 21 was a personal favorite. Unfortunately the cover was lost over three years ago when I shipped the art to a collector via Fedex. My only claim in over 30 years of dealing with Fedex. Sigh
  5. Well I certainly paid more than the reserve for that piece recently!!!
  6. Gabby seemed unfazed to the whole ordeal. The highlight was when the auctioneer mistakenly said "sold for $28,000!"
  7. This doesn't count the ones he tried to sell in Heritage last week
  8. Roger Thanks for coming on the boards and providing some clarification. As I said in my original post, I hope things turn around for you and IH. Best Stephen
  9. I was afraid you were going to say that the bulk of the art is on consignment.
  10. I would hope that the current auction is mainly a liquidation of their assets rather than people consigning artwork.
  11. Just came across this. Hopefully things will turn around for the folks at IH. Feel bad for the consignor. Link
  12. I do believe the owner lived in Hawaii. I had heard he was bringing it to San Diego to have people Ohhh and Ahhhh over it years ago. Can't remember if he was taking offers on the book though.
  13. BZ There was a network of crazy people like myself across the country taping any and all cartoon shorts. We would trade them like baseball cards. It was fun back in the day but now I would much rather purchase them off Amazon and have them delivered to my door!! The toughest were the 1930s Bosko's and Buddy's as well as the late 1960's Road Runners and Speedy Gonzalez. For the 1930's I ended up buying a bunch of 16mm films and transferring them to VHS. For the late 1960's drek I had a source out in the midwest whose local television station showed them in the wee hours of the morning (must have used them as a poor man's sleeping pill; many of those are soooo unwatchable)
  14. BZ It's great that soooooo many Warner cartoons have made it onto the internet. It took years to track down many of those obscure titles back in the day. S
  15. Sorry, the cover art is from Get Lost #1.
  16. I know a collector who has the original art to one of the covers.
  17. BZ I am a hard core Warner fan so put nearly 100% of my effort to complete the run on Warner shots. It wasn't easy finding all those horrible Buddy and Bosko's from the 1930s and the Merlin the Magic Mouse shorts from the late 1960s. I then ventured in collecting original cels drawings and backgrounds from the Warner shorts and had an impressive collection back in the day. Unfortunately I only managed to get a few non-Warner shorts (Columbia, MGM, Fleischer) along the way. S
  18. Just came late to the thread but I have to agree with BZ, releasing these Warner Cartoons on DVD has been long overdue. Waaay back in the pre-DVD days I was a passionate collector of vintage Warner cartoons. There were over 1000 shorts released and I had all but 5 on VHS tape. It was a looooooong task hunting down every short. I much prefer the quality and convenience of the DVD set though. A must have for any fan. Stephen
  19. BZ I was just in Syracuse last week. Next time I go I better check those out! Thx S
  20. It is a loooooong story that I will update people on when the piece gets delivered. Stay tuned!! S
  21. I have been waiting two years for mine. May seem long but it will be worth it. S
