  1. Did you buy directly from James? If I were you I'd ask the artist how best to frame it. I have to say I'm not a big fan of putting oils under glass.
  2. Just started Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. Not loving it so far. Anyone else read this one?
  3. I don't know about Gene but I just pre-ordered that sucker on ibooks. Thanks. Another great read - not forgery, but nefarious enough - is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Chasing-Aphrodite-Looted-Antiquities-Richest/dp/0151015015/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1341610836&sr=1-1&keywords=chasing+aphrodite
  4. I knew he had help, but a pulitzer-prize winner is surprising. It was fascinating to learn (as someone who plays tennis three times a week) how much both he and his wife hate tennis. I'll play until my body breaks down. Then again I didn't have a tyrannical father pushing me into it like they both had...
  5. I could swear I've seen that WBN cover up for sale over the past 12 months
  6. Currently reading Under the Dome by Stephen King. Not bad. Not wonderful. About halfway through. Just re-read the first three John Carter books. They held up nicely. Best non-genre fiction I've read this month though is Norwegian Wood by Huraki Murakami. But the book you have to read if you're around the 40-50 age group is READY PLAYER ONE. Wonderful sci fi with a ridiculous amount of eighties pop culture references.
  7. Wow, awful lot of blows being traded . It feels, at least to me, unnecessary (although who am I to get in the way of a nice healthy debate). To me, Lichtenstein's work is art. Art that's thoroughly deserving of its place in pop art history. But did he steal from other creators? Of course he did. He made a statement using others work, but he definitely used others work. In the art field it was HE who made the statement, so he received those accolades but in the legal world there's no way that what he did couldn't be construed as a massive violation of copyright. (If not the work-for-hire creator's copyright, then most certainly the publishers). So yeah, appreciate the pop art of RL (which I do), but acknowledge that he lifted whole images out the wazoo (which I duly acknowledge). This way Gene can still correctly argue the merits of the work and Chris can correctly argue the outright theft. Win win. Hug it out.
  8. "A Visit from the Goon Squad" by Jennifer Egan. Best book I've read in ages. (It's fiction) Anything by Haruki Murakami. Currently on the 5th book of Asimov's Foundation series, and loving that, too.
  9. This is wonderful. And from one of my favorite Frazetta's no less.
  10. I don't often buy commissions - and I didn't commission this one personally - but this one has found its way into my collection and I think it's just brilliant. Comolo. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5180/5440074197_ec445cf60f_b.jpg' alt='5440074197_ec445cf60f_b.jpg'>

  14. I finally got around to taking pics of my Paul Pope pages from 100%. Here's the splash but you can see the rest of them here (as additional images when you click on the pages): http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=86380 Cheers, Simon
  15. Well done, Mike! I know you were looking forward to this one. Cheers, Simon
