  1. You know what grebal, I’m not a huge sig fan either believe it or not. I prefer nice clean covers but the Stan Lee signs are growing on me primarily due to his enormous popularity, icon status and the seemingly proliferous demand.
  2. Nice sarcasm but I think You’re staring at your TV for hours on end, not for a few seconds every blue moon. Not in the least comparable.
  3. I’ve seen a CGC avengers #1 with his sig that was signed Sept. 24th this year. Definitely a rough looking sig but still very interesting.
  4. Hey human torch, yes maybe bragging a little bit about my collection but what’s wrong with that? This is a comic collection board is it not? And regarding the finger I think you're over-reacting a bit, I’m sure you’ve seen heard and done a lot worse. We’re all adults here right? Complaining about a pic of a middle finger seems quite persnickety on your part.
  5. Ya ok mystafo, why don’t you re-read all of your posts in this thread and see just how useful your contributions have been. Why even get involved in a thread if you don’t like the content. You seem like a very pretentious person to me with a “holier than thou” attitude. I suggest you make like the wind and blow. Besides don’t you have more important things to do than squabble with the neophytes on this site? Now back to the discussion; although stan’s earlier signatures may be more fluid and cleaner, I still think that his most recent ones are just as valuable as well. The fact that it’s his name written in his hand is enough for me, although I have seen some smudgy ones done with thicker markers that are not overly appealing. And on another note regarding his last signing session as mentioned by gadzooks, generally speaking does anyone know if a signature is more valuable if it is written nearer to the signator’s Death?
  6. Serious question for low baller and no-man and anyone else on this thread who wants to share; what is your best Stan lee signature series book and would you part with it for the right price?
  7. Ok no-baller, I mean low baller, who are you exactly that you speak for everyone on the board. Be careful that you don’t start to brag and then can’t back it up. BTW I never claimed that these were my best books, just up there with my favourites. Rest assured that I’ve got a lot more ammo in store for goods like you should the necessity arise.
  8. No, I like the slabs as a way of protecting and safekeeping the books. I try to get lower grade reading copies of all my slabbed books.
  9. Not trying to prove anything, just demonstrating that I’ve lived up to the claims in my posts. And maybe just getting a few laughs and lightening up the mood. As far as your comment about the “superiority” of one collection versus another, I will concede that it is largely a subjective ordeal. I was basing it primarily on overall value which I think is a valid measure.
  10. I am surprised at how many people are so upset by the NR’s. I for one enjoy looking at my graded comics and their covers for a few minutes every once in a while and then I put them back in storage for a lengthy while. I am much more focused on the fact that they are quantified with a grade and protected. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t love them or anything, I just don’t mind them. I guess I can agree that a clear case without the rings would be better. Anyway I’ll tell you what; anyone who wants to sell one of their key books at a slight discount because of NR please contact me for an offer. And that goes for cracked/damaged cases as well. For me It’s about the comics much more than it is about the holders!
  11. My opinion on newton rings is that as long as it isn’t excessive enough to detract from the overall view of the cover, and as long as it doesn’t harm the book in any way shape or form, who cares they are kind of neat.
  12. Lazya-s, I mean lazy boy, what is pathetic is you copying a few brief, out of context blurbs from a back and forth string. You’re comment is not appreciated ( they started it, lol). If you have something of relevance to contribute then fine, otherwise keep the personal comments to yourself. Your point about supply and demand is obviously correct but not very revealing except to those that do not have the most basic understanding of economics. So, that being said how do yo see the supply and demand of Stan lee’s Signature playing out moving forward?
  13. Very nice bob, I’m impressed. I have a 9.4 slabbed 181, I bought the vg as a reading copy. I like having reading copies of my high end slabbed books. I also have an ASM 129 9.6 white with a vg reading copy. Your hulk is very nice though, I’m actually jealous!
  14. That’s ok mystafo, thanks for stepping up. I accept your apology.
  15. Exnihilo, you are correct. These guys unnecessarily post derogatory comments and it -s me off that’s all. They think they’re better than others and that’s what I interpret from the tones of their comments. I’m no self-proclaimed expert just a long time collector and no slouch as far as information and knowledge is concerned. I have the upmost respect for Stan, but he’s dead and like it or not his influence and signature play a large role in value. For the record I own a FF#1 and x-men #1 both graded with Stan lee signature. I won’t mention the grade of each but let’s just say it would probably be surprising.
  16. Ok mystafo, big b-lls. Post your collection too and we’ll see. It was a discussion ffs, I don’t need your half-Assed advice. BLOW. Why join a thread if you guys don’t like the subject?
  17. And as far as No-man is concerned, what an idiotic comment. Ya I should thank and pay everybody who responds to my post because I started a discussion. Thank you so much no-man for gracing us with your infinite wisdom, you are the guru of comics and we are all plebes! I’ve got more experience and knowledge than you and my collection is far superior. What’s that? You disagree? Put your money where your mouth is and post your collection database and I will too.
  18. This is a great part of the hobby; nothing like your collection turning into an investment as you get older and have money. Bug off Bob, who died and made you boss of comic collecting! I maintain that Key books with Stan’s signature will go up and hold value. A fantastic four CBCS 5.0 Stan lee sig just sold for $26400 on heritage. The last CGC 5.0 graded book sold for $18000 in July (no sig; on GPA).
  19. I don’t think the higher graded books take a hit over the holidays. People who spend over 30k on a 9.8 aren’t too concerned with Christmas bills. For the lower graded books you might have a point, I haven’t checked but I will keep an eye on this because I bought a vg copy about 3 months ago for $1300.
  20. Will signature series books go up in value with Stan the Man’s passing? I know he signed a lot of stuff but his value has been increasing over the last couple of years. Will it’s value shoot up more or level-off and maybe even decline? Any opinions?
  21. I agree that the sig looks authentic, based on books that I have with his sig. just FYI, CBCS will now have a category and different colour label for an authenticated, but not witnessed signature. This book might benefit from a switch to CBCS. It would likely still be a 2.0 but with the added value of an authenticated Stan lee signature, which holds some decent value all on its own nowadays.
  22. And the verdict is.... -Listed on GPA as manufacturing error/ newsstand edition (but only after I appealed, lol) When I checked yesterday afternoon the transaction was on GPA but grouped in under the 9.6 newsstand column at $610 which is obviously a poor indication of price point for the regular newsstand editions. So I emailed them stating my case as to why it should be separately identified (kind of common sense anyway I’d say) and Lo and behold there it was this morning as the only issue specific to the manufacturing error with my price as the benchmark. Kudos to GPA on their quick response and logical assessment; very impressed with their professionalism.
  23. I can’t believe how many cavemen are on this thread, only a couple actually mentioned an app. Or website. I use comicspriceguide.com and it’s perfect to keep track of my collection of over 30k books. I input whatever new books I get and can look over my collection very easily. It’s got the info for purchase date, what you paid for it, option for graded or signature, etc. And there is an area for notes where you can put other misc. info, for example CGG, white pages, etc.
  24. My 2 cents, grade is the most important aspect unless there’s a drastic sway page color is the next one, white page issues always go for a premium and I personally love them. centering, eye appeal etc, that’s all to taste. For me I look at the value of the book first and foremost. If there is a 4.0 TS 39, I’m not too concerned about general eye appeal but there are things that I hate and will deter me from buying such as names written on cover, pieces missing, etc. i was lucky enough to pick up an IH 181, 9.4 white pages a year ago for 5k. One of my favourite books.
