  1. https://spawncomics.wordpress.com/2015/12/13/spawn-9-newsstand-edition/ interesting link on the subject.
  2. Fair enough if you think it’s not that rare but none of the 9.8 or 9.6 newsstand issues on GPA show the manufacturing error label text. And that’s going back to 2013.
  3. Check the third picture, the thin label on top of the slab
  4. It’s a universal blue label, I bought it this am on eBay, check it out under sold items if you like.
  5. Issues 1 obviously, 3 first blob, 4, quick silver scarlet witch, 12 first juggernaut, and 35 first changeling but also spider-man crossover With amazing cover. Those are my top 5.
  6. No I dont plan on opening it up, it clearly states “manufactured with glossy interior & Angela poster included” in the center of the label right above “Newstand Edition”. Furthermore, the thin label on the top of the case states “MANUFACTURING ERROR/Newsstand Edition” written with capitalization as indicated.
  7. You’ve got a good point and this is reflected by the much higher price of the venom issues. I’m not saying that this issue should be as valuable, but it is still a seemingly very rare and pretty cool manufacturing error where the newstand variant is basically printed with the regular copy interior. If we assume 5% of the newsstand variants have this error, then there would only be a handful of copies out there, making it quite rare. I’m curious to see how GPA lists this book, I find it hard to believe that they would simply categorize it as a newsstand issue which sold for $600. I used the term ”they” after some brief internet research but as bomber bob pointed out the actual percentage of newsprint copies on the census is closer to 5% (4.6 to be exact).
  8. You have a point bomber bob, there is also the poster included which should not be there so I guess 2 errors. Time will tell on value, but I do not disagree that I paid heavy for it, I usually don’t do that but I really liked this one.
  9. I have GPA and I checked obviously, it’s nowhere on their census. I’m curious to see now though because mine should register on the census once they update. Another factor to consider is that the book was advertised as fresh from CGC so maybe they have only begun to track and list the error.
  10. “Newsprint interior” does not list the error, it’s supposed to have a newsprint interior, I think that’s just their generic comment on this issue. If you look at the center comment it stipulates “glossy” interior.
  11. The reference to the error is on the thin top of slab sticker, shown on one of the pics.
  12. I know, I also think it was very aggressive but some of those rare variants shoot up in value like crazy, perfect examples are the venom lethal protector 1 black cover error, and even more rare white cover error. Check out how much those sell for. They say that about 2% of the spawn #9 are newsstand, and how many of those have the manufacturing error? Worst case it’s still a high grade newsstand variant and best case it shoots up after the movie comes out after Angela’s popularity shoots through the roof (fingers crossed).
  13. Its CGC graded 9.6 white pages and it stipulates manufacturing error/ newsstand variant. I just bought it on eBay and haven’t received it yet, if you search under recently sold items you will see it there.
  14. The Hughes LOSH variant is much more expensive, that’s a factor to consider as well.
  15. I just bought a spawn # 9 CGC 9.6, newsstand edition with rare manufacturing error. The error is because the book has the denser glossy paper as well as the Angela poster (the original newsstand edition is not supposed to have the poster and the paper is supposed to be thinner newsprint stock). i don’t see any copies on the CGC census, and none on eBay. Any thoughts as to the true rarity and potential value? I paid a fair chunk of change for it, it wasn’t cheap.
  16. I have little issue with the back cover stamping, that could be on a 9.4 book that is in beautiful condition otherwise. Back cover issues or blemishes take a far back seat to front cover in my opinion. In any case I agree with 5.5 or 6.0 grade from what I see overall. The rear cover stamps definitely fall within the scope of this grading range.
