  1. I love your point about the housing market, and agree entirely. And yes you are right: the comics market could go bust, and our books lose their market, and we all starve. I know we keep busting thru ceilings with the prices, and I think it’s all gotta end somewhere, But what a ride its been!!!!
  2. Woo woo, you are one creative guy! I was just reading your Cap 1 post when this popped up. Sounded like you were one of the original guys in this great hobby of ours
  3. I was the underbidder, and stopped at $8k. I promised myself a few months ago I was going to take a break from buying, so 4.5 times guide was as high as my somewhat elastic code of honor would allow. Wait, I just reread your post. So you didn't get it either??!! I was actually picturing catman_america as the guy with whom I was doing battle on the book. Oh, well. I'd been looking for a high grade copy of that book for a long time. At the risk of repetition, allow me to repeat an earlier post: My winnings so far - (This Page Intentionally Left Blank)
  4. Who are these Nick and Mike guys? I assume they have long faded from view . . .
  5. Not sure what “Buno” means, but i’m glad you bumped this thread, because of the next sentence . . . This sentence here captures the essence of why I dont find the silver age hunt as fun. I love many of the silver age books, but they are all available at any time and at any place. You can always find a dozen AF 15s or whatever at any auction site, it seems. All I gotta do is match the condition/price up to whatever wad of cash I happen to have in my pocket at the time, and voila! I now own that book. no challenge there. Yes, I know these books are good investments and all, but still.
  6. Of course the Denver and San Francisco copies of Cap 1 are stunning, but all I could ever do is dream. On the other end of the spectrum is CCs Cap 1 2.5(not my book). I’m curious how this will be received, and wonder what you guys think. On the one hand, it’s got tan pages and tape. On the other hand, I think the eye appeal is way high. Any predictions? For what it’s worth, I’ve already got my copy and will not be in the hunt for this. I genuinely am interested in the thoughts of others more knowledgeable than myself. btw, there’s another Bat 1 with brittle pages in the CC auction, too.
  7. That makes more sense, but yes he shows a meager 3 posts to his name. I say that knowing full well my post count is meager too
  8. Wow. 3rd post, and all you have is a pedigree Cap 3??!! welcome, friend
  9. Gator's pic is not a scan. It's an iphone in one hand, book in the other. His wasn't meant for accuracy, I don't think. Remember, just 2 months ago he reported getting a scanner.
  10. There’s more high grade centaur AMFs in the current CC auction
  11. When I last exited the hobby, it was the year 1997. The book was hot then. Now that I put a year to it, I must be old. Thanks for that
  12. It wasn’t that long ago this would go for multiples
  13. Somehow that manages to be both heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. I may see you out there, friend
  14. You’ve seen the Martin Sheen movie about it, right?
  15. + 1 on The Way. No long boxes being carried, however, unless I hire a sherpa
  16. Brittle pages is why. Bat 1s with brittle pages have continued to get $40 - $50k PP, but I cannot believe that is sustainable. This may be the breaking point here on this book
  17. His Selling Prices seem reasonable But seriously, this is such a time capsule. Would love to know when this ad ran. Tough Kid Squad was a more expensive book than Supe 1 and Cap 1. Is he a boardie? Hey, fella, put a shirt on!
