  1. My guess is "Wife And Family". I should know - I certainly fall into that category. Joe
  2. Is that the actual cover to Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, or is it just a recreation? I got Pat Olliffe to do a recreation of that cover for me, and it turned out pretty sweet. Joe
  3. Here are photos of my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #361. I see a few spine ticks along the upper spine, and a slight staple tear near the bottom. Other than those two things, I think it is pretty nice. What grade would you give it? Joe
  4. Here are my pictures of my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300. It does have a slight bend in the upper right corner. I will have CSS work on this for me. I think it looks pretty nice. Anyone want to share his/her opinion? Joe Ankenbauer
  5. Here's my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #194. I think it look pretty nice. What does everyone else think? Thanks! Joe
  6. I definitely would be one of them. I have always loved the Metal Men! Joe
  7. Generally, how does this overspray affect the grade? Joe
  8. I'm now a full-fledged member of this club. I have already shown my copy of Avengers #1, and I will soon have this book in a couple of weeks. Joe
  9. Here's my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #101. It has a spine split at the bottom (less than 1/2 inch). And, as you can see, it has some distributor's ink (is that right?). I think this distributor's ink is the cause of the stain on the upper-left corner. Your thoughts? Joe
  10. Hey, at least you can say you own a copy of Showcase #22. That's not true for everybody! Joe
  11. My guess it would be this designation. Of course, I don't own any CGC-graded Golden Age comics, so you might want to take this with a grain of salt. Graded Comic Sleeve - Super/Anniversary 8-13/16 x 13-5/16" 3 mil Polyethylene Joe
  12. Although I have owned this comic for years, I got two autographs (Stan Lee and then John Romita) and a pressing from CCS. When it came back with the Stan Lee signature, it was graded at 7.0. All values listed below were obtained from GPAnalysis. Amazing-Spider Man #50 - 7.0 - $725 Amazing Spider-Man #50 (Stan Lee autograph) - 7.0 - $895 Amazing Spider-Man #50 - 7.5 - $835 Amazing Spider-Man #50 (Stan Lee and John Romita autographs) - 7.5 - $1978 I would say that the money I spent (less than $600) for all this work was worth it. Joe
  13. I got some of the bags that you are looking for at Bags Unlimited. Here's a link to the page you need: http://www.bagsunlimited.com/category/288/graded-comic-sleeves Joe Ankenbauer
  14. I have solved this problem (and prevented theft) by always having books and packages delivered to my work address. Expensive books are often shipped with a signature required requirement. Our secretary just signs for me and I pick it up before I leave at the end of the day. No damage, no theft - problem solved! Now, if you run your own business or work out of your home, this is probably not an option. Joe Ankenbauer
  15. If you don't mind me asking, what "grail" are you going after? Joe
  16. I have insured my collection through CollectInsure. I can verify that they cover your comics during shipping. One thing that they do require when shipping is a "signature required" in addition to the cost of the postage. If I remember, it's only a couple of bucks more - more than worth it when you are shipping $2000+ worth of books to and from CGC! Joe
  17. I have an Incredible Hulk #181 in CGC 5.0 grade. I have been thinking about trying to trade for a lower grade copy of X-Men #1, Tales of Suspense #39, Strange Tales #110, Tales to Astonish #27, or Journey Into Mystery #83. By looking at GPA, I feel I could get X-Men #1 in CGC 1.8, Tales of Suspense #39 in CGC 1.8, Strange Tales #110 in CGC 5.5, Tales to Astonish #27 in CGC 4.5, and Journey Into Mystery #83 in CGC 1.8. I would be willing to pay some extra cash to get a slightly higher grade. I know that Incredible Hulk #181 is one of the most desirable of the Bronze Age keys, and I know that it introduces an iconic Marvel character, Wolverine. I do think that the X-Men, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Thor are far more iconic characters than Wolverine. Does this stupid to anyone? If it doesn't, is this something you might consider doing? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Joe Ankenbauer
  18. People corrected me on this issue quite some time ago. Joe
  19. I have read several posts about how people send a book into CGC, pay for the grading, and when it is returned, they crack open the slab. Can someone explain to me why anyone would pay all this money to have a book graded and slabbed, and then turn around and open it right away? Inquiring minds want to know! Joe
  20. I would start with Dan Jurgens. He has a long history as a writer/artist of the Superman titles. John Byrne is another writer/artist that comes to mind. Joe
  21. Yes, the stock market returns in 2018 were low. However, the DJIA increased by 25.2% and the S&P 500 increased by 19.2% in 2017. Checking an Amazing Fantasy #15 3.0 at GP Analysis shows a price of $14,000 in 2016 and a price of $18,950 in 2017 - a gain of 35.3%. Hmm... that didn't turn out the way i had expected. Never mind. Joe
  22. Do you have access to the grader notes? If so, could you please share them? Joe
  23. I'm sure that I will be the "butt" of jokes for an extended period of time. Joe
  24. I got an e-mail back from CGC, and they sending a photocopy would be sufficient. Thanks for your replies! Joe
  25. Yes, that is exactly what I thought. I stand corrected.
