  1. I know I'm late to this party, but here's a picture of my copy of Showcase #22. Yes, I know my picture taking skills are quite lacking. Joe

  4. Good point. Not relevant to the question and way too verbose! Joe Ankenbauer
  5. If there has been a color touch, doesn't that usually bleed through to the inside cover? I have had this book in my collection since the late 1970s. Were people trimming edges way back then? There are definitely some nicks along the top and right-hand side of the cover that don't show up so well in the scans I posted. Anyway, we will find out at some point in time. I'm sending this book to Joe Grisolia (along with several other books that people on this forum have been kind enough to offer their grade opinions - FF 12, FF 49, FF 52, ASM 4, ASM 20, ASM 129). I have read that many here hold him in high regard. I sent pictures of my ASM 129, and he said that a cleaning and press would do wonders for that book. He also does pre-screening; if he believes a book will not be improved by cleaning and pressing, he will just send it on CGC without working on it. I am just interested in seeing his work first hand - besides, it's only $20 a book. If he is able to raise the grade of my ASM 129 from 4.5 to 5.5, that will easily pay for the cleaning and pressing of all the books I send in. Joe Ankenbauer
  6. I took this issue out of its bag and board, and I can see what you're talking about. However, there's no stain on the inside cover, and when you hold the issue at different angles, it's not always visible. Joe Ankenbauer
  7. I was trying to show the spine and staple on the bottom half of the book. Joe Ankenbauer
  8. Here are some pictures of my copy of Daredevil #7. I would appreciate your input on the grade. To me, it looks like 6.0 - 6.5. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. Joe Ankenbauer
  9. As I posted earlier, you were absolutely correct about my mistake. I fixed my original post as soon as I saw your post. And, as you stated, it's best to go off sales, which you can find on GPAnalysis and from ComicLink. Joe Ankenbauer
  10. oldrover, you were absolutely right. I fixed my original post to reflect that. Joe Ankenbauer

  13. Here are some pictures of my copy of Fantastic Four #49. I would appreciate your input on the following: a) grade, b) benefit from pressing?, and c) would you slab it? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. My guess is 4.5 - 5.0. Joe Ankenbauer
  14. I see a small stain in the upper-left hand corner of the back cover. I don't remember if it affects interior pages. Joe Ankenbauer
  15. Fellow board members, I am very sorry that I did not follow this board's guidelines. Another member pm'd me to let me know that the acceptable number of books to be posted is no more than three per day. Obviously, I did not follow that guideline, as I posted five books today. In the future, I will do my due diligence about determining what acceptable behavior is by reading the sticky posts at the top of each forum. Again, I am sorry for my ignorance. As is often said, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Joe Ankenbauer
  16. Do you think pressing would increase it to a 6.0? Joe Ankenbauer

  22. I just became a member of CGC, and I have been reading the boards to make sure I got the hang of things. So, as my first two questions, I need some grading and valuation advice. I sent a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #50, and it came back with a grade of 7.0 with a verified signature from Stan Lee (autograph thanks to Celestial Comics). I then sent this comic back to Celestial Comics to get it autographed by John Romita. It has now been signed and is now undergoing a pressing through CCS. So, my first question is this. After these signatures and the pressing, should I expect to get another grade of 7.0, or should I expect a higher or lower grade? My second question is this. How do these two verified signatures affect the value of the comic? My guess that the value of Amazing Spider-Man #50 is around $750, unsigned. If I was to sell this comic as soon as I receive it, I would assume that I should ask for more than $750. But how much more? Thanks for your time and cooperation in answering my questions. Joe
