  1. I didn't do much, other than moral support (and make my own spreadsheet nobody else ever gets to see MUHAHAHAHAHA) @Get Marwood & I is the master gremlin (elves are for the Holiday raffle right?)!
  2. This was all around the time when I got to meet Chappelle randomly on the street in Norfolk, he was out jogging and his bodyguard was not amused. Good times!
  3. One thing to note is that if a variant features a cover appearance of a new character, that might be the one to go with. See Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters - Jabba the Hutt. That would be why I said "most cases"
  4. See you could have gone in a completely different direction with the Lil Jon reference. Cause I did. I was going to use a Chappelle version but didn't quickly come across one with all three in 1.
  5. I don't belive that the variants will hold up in value compared to the main issue, so the primary cover (cover A) is what is best to buy in most cases. ASM 55 is an outlier as the variant cover is the draw not the issue itself. With that the main one to go for is the 1st print Virgin variant that was not available in regular stores, at least that would be my recommendation.
  6. Just got the email a little bit ago. Still waiting on 2-4 to ship though.
  7. I teetered between 9.2/9.0/8.5 on the Whiz, settling with what I figured was a conservative 8.5. The Master I hammer on that red being a stain and gave it the all time low 5.0. I would not have gone up to 9.0 on it at any point. 8.0 maybe, but I really just don’t look at or handle golden age at all. B&B, I figured that crease would have been color breaking from the scan. So 9.4/9.6. Again conservatively, went 9.4. All great looking books and fantastic grades @William-James88
  8. Oh this reminds me, Fraggle Rock is coming back! P.S. @Tombofdracula50 we be waiting yo!
  9. I think Tomb has his grades ready he is just making us all wait until someone invites him in. I am NOT volunteering as tribute for that one.
  10. I mean if I came back and my post was 4 pages long, I would keep right on trucking too.
  11. Now that is funny right there. Because I am pretty sure that proves Ricky Bobby wrong. This person is both 1st and last....
  12. Sorry for the delay, guess I should pay better attention next time to when these start! PM sent.
  13. If I recall, Heroes and Villains was originally Heroes 2. Heroes 1 was in Grafton Station and when the owners of Heroes (and they felt the name) decided to leave the area they wanted a unexpected amount for the name to stay Heroes. So thus it was changed to Heroes and Villains. 10th Inning started as a shop in where Burlington (it might even have been called Burlington back then but had shop space like a mall) is now on Mercury and then moved where they are now, my older brother used to get baseball cards from them. If I remember right, Don is the owner's name. They have the weirdest hours, I have no idea how they have stayed open all these years, great place to find vintage cards though for sure. This was the last comic purchase I made from them around 11yrs ago, they still had a bunch of random early to mid 80s comic back stock but I know they were looking for buyers then. Was a great $25 buy for sure. I grew up right behind Toys'R'Us (now Ollies), my dad is still there. So much has changed over the years. That same brother is one of the owners of a Vape business down where High's was near Aberdeen (they have a few locations though). So yep, I am most definitely a local from the area.
  14. They are no comicxposure that is for sure, I do appreciate the link though and might just order from them if CE doesn't pop it up there.
  15. Very true, I was sad when I went to eat next door and he was gone back in October, my sub from Anna's was tasty though!
  16. Yep, Jim did good with those two for sure. Funny enough up until 2018, when I worked in Newport News. We would take lunches to random eateries, hitting both sides of the water. Cal's would be a frequent so we could hit up Trilogy to look around, every single time we went poop hit the fan at work and we would end up stuck on our phones trying to remote into random servers to address whatever it was. Should have bought that WWBN #32 Trilogy had for awhile hanging up, but never pulled the trigger, too late now that ship has sailed. A.C.E visits were easier, just hit Smitty's and run in. Or go up to A.C.E. #2 and do any number of places towards Williamsburg off Jefferson. Comic Kings, I called them looking for a book last summer, great customer service, I was supposed to get by there next time I was in town and I completely forgot when i was back in October! Thanks for the reminder. Not sure if you are at all familiar with "World's Best Comics" that is on Warwick Blvd, it originally started on Jefferson Ave. The owner passed away Nov 2019, not sure who is running it now. Jersey's Cards and Comics is a good shop that started in the King Flea on Jefferson, opened up a Yorktown store in the mid-90s has some back stock, has a Hampton location that is mostly a gaming/sports card venue. Bruce runs the Yorktown store and his son Bryan runs the Hampton store. They also have a Gloucester location, guy that runs that one (his name escapes me at the moment) used to run Imagination Station in the 90s. I played DND and Magic here throughout High School.
  17. Ugh, don't want to have to order from Midtown.....
  18. Did you get an email about #5? I haven't seen it pop up on the site today
  19. @kazoo Phoebus is not the same as it was, I don't believe Fertitta's (the reincarnated) is still around, I will have to ask my dad. Is Mama Rosa's back open? I thought it had shut down due to COVID. Last time I went into Bender's it was not like I remember in the 90s, so many years of shop cats on everything doing what they want have made that shop smell like a giant litterbox. (that is just my opinion) I grew up off Mercury Blvd semi-near the Coliseum in the 80s when it still had access lanes, HATED those. I didn't frequent Bender's but I did get comics from Atomic Comics Emporium (A.C.E.) that was originally on Mercury Blvd down near King St in a shopping center with Ames, they were right next to a Pizza place, this is important to my memory as the only reason I was able to go into the comic shop was because my dad was trying to drum up new paper business at the pizza place, he literally sold toilet paper (practically everybody needs it!). It also had a High's Ice Cream right near it, my favorite of those was closer to Aberdeen Rd though. A.C.E. is still around, they are now across the street from where they were originally have had up to 3 locations, now down to 2. The owner and his wife are still around but they have passed to reigns down to their kids. Every time I am in town I go back into A.C.E. and have lucked into running into the owner's son each time. He remembers me by name, just like his parents did, and we talk about what is going on in each other's lives and comics. They are also great at getting some stellar books into people's collections. Here is one of the earliest comics I remember buying at A.C.E. while my dad did his sales thing next door. **Land of the 757 (originally 804) 4tw!**
