  1. It seems that nowadays more artists are pencilling their pages, then scanning/printing/inking these pages. When this happens, there are original pencils...and then the finished artwork, which is on a seperate art board. In some situations, the final artwork is merely lightboxed inks...in other situations, the final artwork is more involved (inkwash, etc). I'm just looking for some opinions on this...

1.) Which would you rather have (the original pencils, or the seperate inks)...assuming they are by the same artist?

2.) How much does it detract from value/desirability that there are now TWO originals rather than just one?

3.) If an original pencilled/inked page is worth $100, for example...how much would the OA be worth as pencils only...or as finished (lightboxed) inks?

Considering how much more common this whole process is becoming, it'd be great to get some opinions on this...

    Thanks!

  2. Not Fables....

    ...but close.

OK, so I've definitely got my hands full trying to collect Fables OA...so I certainly don't intend to add another title to the list. Still, I had to pick up a few pages from the new spin-off, "Jack of Fables"...and these were the two I immediately had to have. They feature cameos of many key Fables characters...as Jack recounts his "version" of the events that saved Fabletown at the end of the "March of the Wooden Soldiers" arc. Obviously, his version is a bit different than everyone else's.

  3. I don't know about a crescendo...as these aren't necessarily the splashiest pages or anything...just my sentimental favorites from the bunch (well, and 1 splash for good measure). This is the last batch...so for those of you still playing along at home, thanks for looking! smile.gif

    the gang's all here! Well...almost.

  4. OK...today, a little background...

Let me just say that no series has ever touched me the same way that Fables has. I enjoy everything about it...the story, the art, the covers...to me, it's just a perfect book. I've read through the series three or four times now, and it entertains me each and every time. It's the only series for which I buy the singles AND the trades. I know this isn't a superhero book, and so doesn't interest some of you...but if you have ANY fond memories for the fairy tales and the fairy tale characters of your childhood, I can't recommend this series to you enough.

Anyway, as much as I love the whole series, Homelands is my favorite story arc...and issues 40 and 41 my favorite issues of the run. For these two issues, both the art and story approach perfection. For this reason, I couldn't be happier to have 9 consecutive pages from 41. Picking up where I left off yesterday, here's the second half...(and to those of you not interested in Fables, don't worry...I'm almost done for now :-)

    Big Walter Horton!

"I hope you'll forgive me for this Pinocchio, but he's a monster that needs to die."

    OK, time to go!

    stopping along the way

BB & RRH safely back in Fabletown
