  1. Darn link is broken here. JLA 195 is the issue.
  2. Glad you like it! I've always been a sucker for creepy house covers, here's a good one... Reminds me of Evil Dead for many reasons!
  3. This thread is amazing. I'm glad to see it's still going strong!
  4. This isn't my copy, but I have a double cover of this JLA issue:
  5. Notice the fairies are the same ones that the Pini's use in Elfquest. Check out the Mask #1 in Heritage and the description shows up as "copy owned by Wendy Pini" Kind of cool. Fun fact: neat-o bit of information. Cover: even better!
  6. Yeah, I hear ya. I've never been into athletic chicks before but, Lalova's different. She's still incredible in my book. Actually it was when she appeared on the television that first time that I was just plain dumbstruck. I love feeling like that way. It's not like, ya know, blonde bimbo, fakkies, beauty. Just natural, unique beauty. I guess it that's Russian-ish sorta look, too. It's not an American look. Different type of pretty. I actually like women with a little more prounced nose or a strong jaw or noble type of look. Ya know? Okay, I'll stop there. Sounding weird now. HAHA!
  7. That is Ivet Lalova. She's a Bulgarian sprinter that I fell in love with when she was televised in her event at the Athens olympics. She's a cutie. Once she hit the screen I think she made many fans. Anyway, there's a website devoted to her http://www.ivetlalova.es.kz/ It appears she's kinda into modeling now. Believe or not she dosn't look as good now that she's all dolled up and looking super-model-ish.! I liked her appearance best when I initially saw her on television (my avatar). I'm happily married but it's fun to have a puppy-love kinda crush now and then...
  8. I love that all red cover. Visually daring and just all around cool. congrats on acquiring it.
  9. I've noticed Brian Bolland is a big foot fetish artist.
  10. That is a very cool cover. I'm slowly making my way through this thread and finding some well-known gems and some newly discovered ones like this cover!
  11. Congrats! Wives who support their husband's hobbies are super cool. Congrats on the great book too. I've been really into a game called Heroscape (see my signature!). For my birthday, my wife bought a folding table for me to set up my battlefields. Now I don't have to drag the dining room table into the garage to host my game nights. Congrats again.
  12. Thanks!! I'm glad that particular quest is now over; I look forward to reading them. The funny thing was, while I was waiting for it to arrive, I saw one in a LCS for a dollar less than I'd paid (I knew that would happen, so I just laughed about it). What's an LSC?
  13. There's just something about the look of these DC covers. I love 'em. They're a bit crowded with text and baiting, but it defintitely harks back to an era. Love that chimmney sweeping witch.
  14. I've been to that Toth site many times in the past - off and on. Yeah, he's a bit self-critical or whatever. I Don't remember much of The Dirty Job except for those damn silhouettes. As a kid, it made quite an impression on me. I felt the subject matter was very Adult and the silhouettes reinforced that hot, bright desert climate lighting that I was accustomed to from viewings of Jesus Christ Superstar and the Life of Jesus Christ ( I may have the name wrong on this latter title, but it was aired on televisioin about once a year - around x-mas time). Zonker, I was born in 1970. I have always loved the comic book instituition. nothing can compare to growing up reading comics. Nothing can be quite like getting a stack of comics from the flea market or through some acquaintance - family or friend. I was a very happy child with my comics! ah, what am I saying, I'm preaching to the very converted! .
  15. Wow....Thank you for posting the cover scan. I don't remember that cover at all, but I do remember the Batman story and the Superman story. If I recall correctly the Legion of Super-Heroes is in that tale. That was my first exposure to the teen superhero group of the future. I also remember the Firehair story, but not being at all intersted in it as a kid. The same with The Dirty Job. I didn't know Toth drew it! Going now to read the story at his site. Thanks for the link!
  16. Precodekeith and October - OMIGOD! I haven't seen this story since I was a kid! I had it in one of those large format DC editions! It just freaked me out as a kid! Yeah that last panel sent my brain into some weird territories thinking about that lobotomized boy. Wow. Whatta blast from the past. Thanks for posting the entire story. Just amazing. Sad to see Aparo gone. We all lost Eisner too this year. BTW, What was the over-sized book I'm referring to? A treasury edition? I remember there was a heavy tale about Romans and crucifying Jesus Christ titled, "The Job". Any one have a scan of that book?
  17. Ah John Buscema. His Silver Surfer stuff is so fun. Loved John's work on Those early Avengers issues with the Grim Reaper, The White Ape, et al...
  18. Wow. I just discovered this forum! Whatta forum! Whatta thread!
