  1. Not much to add….just a google random generator. My bins are “labelled” or ordered 1-26 and I’ll just got to the bin and flip until there one I haven’t read or one that grabs my interest
  2. I look forward to the remaining issues then!
  3. Today it was bin 4! And so I grabbed this It’s funny because this series never appealed to me yet I’ve kept this issue in the collection forever just because. I also have ASM 365 (as that run is my jam) but it’s been a while since I’ve perused that. Anyways not a terrible story here. I do love the costume and it was entertaining enough to make me consider reading a few more issues. I suspect the challenge with this series is introducing villains that can compete with Spideys umm prehistoric rogues gallery? Hence why they eventually introduce some Venom and Green Goblin if I recall (neither of which I recall likening visually when Ive seen them) Oh and this wacky contest intrigued me….wonder who entered and won back in the day. I’m intrigued what the print, signed plate and stand up looked like!
  4. I have always stored upright. I have smaller cloth bins I use so there are maybe 100 comics together upright (I find in a long box you can end up with pressure on the end books). There are ways to prevent this too if using long boxes. If laying flat I’ve heard it’s best to alternate so you dont have all of the pressure on the spines of the bottom books. Also stacks can slide easier I feel than if upright.
  5. You find these all the time at yard sales and garages sales. They are worth anywhere from a quarter to a buck. The only marvel card you MIGHT consider grading is Deadpools as it seems to get sales. Or if you got 10s on every card which unless you know cards inside and out, you could end up wasting a lot of money to only get 9s and not be able to sell them for half of what you paid to grade em.
  6. Is it in an older slab? Sometimes the notes that may have been are unavailable. Although I’m curious what you are hoping the notes share? Is there a flaw you despise so much that if the book had it you would pass? If so I’m sure communication and extra pics from the seller would help ease your mind. Are you looking for CGC notes that suggest a grade bump could happen? I’m just curious why you need the notes and why that would prevent you from owning a book. I’ve never felt I needed notes on a CGC book to ease my mind about buying it (unless it was very low grade and I wanted to ensure the interior was complete or something to that effect).
  7. First up from bin 9….I choose Devil Dinosaur 1 and 2! I recently acquired this run and have yet to read it. I decided to grab the first two issues since I assume there will be a cliffhanger ending after issue 1. Overall, I enjoyed both issues. I was intrigued to see where this story could go as I assume you can only have Devil fight prehistoric creatures so often before it gets repetitive. Issue 1 had a cliffhanger ending (knew it!) and issue 2 resolved the initial intro story nicely. It was also neat to read Kirby’s words in the first letters pages explaining why he was writing such a series and the letters page in issue 2 even encourages the readers to submit ideas! Overall, a fine story with classic Kirby art (including a couple nice splash pages!). And its intriguing enough to the point where I will probably keep going and chime in on the future issues here as well!
  8. To encourage myself to catch up on reading my books, I am starting up this thread and encourage others to join in anytime with books from their own collection. You can use your own process but mine will be done randomly, meaning to determine what I am to read, I will randomly have a number selected using a generator and then go to said bin in my collection and find a book I have not read! I will provide some brief thoughts on what I’ve read, perhaps a recommendation and maybe even a few pics of some of the best moments. So let’s get started!
  9. It’s wrong but most books 1990 to now probably get graded very fast. Heck I’m sure sometimes the don’t even count pages or look inside. Just front cover, flip back cover and inside page to get PQ. Not that it’s right but if they get the “right” grade with no issues 99% of the time, who are they to care further
  10. I like the math provided. CGC is run by humans and bound to fluff up, sometimes minor and sometimes royally. It that occurs less than 1% of the time well you can’t get much better than that. If it occurs 5% of the time, to me that would be too high. And again as long as they are trying to fix the mistakes (compensation, books replacement when able, etc) then they can continue to be the kings of the biz
  11. I’ll be “that guy” and add in the fact that before Mark Jewellers there were National Diamond inserts. Essentially the same thing just with a different name (and women’s lingerie) also added alongside the ring adverts in the middle of the book. I forget off the top of my head by these ran for about a year I believe in 1971 or 1972… After that they were Mark Jewellers inserts and those can be found in books all the way to the early 90s
  12. Also if going the route of selling the more valuable books separately (books in the $50-1000 range let’s say to keep it broad), I would post pics in the grading forum for feedback. This will give you a sense of your grading. If you are calling them Near Mint but get feedback there from a lot of people saying Very Fine, then you know you’ve graded too high. And vice versa
  13. If you want to maximize your money to the fullest, you would grade the most valuable or desired issues (keys if you will) and sell everything on your own. This however could take years and years as others have attested. Or you could grade the best books, sell those and then sell the rest for a bulk price. Or you could keep everything raw but note that most grading tools when they give you a value (suppose you said it was Near Mint) that value is of a graded book. So if you have $5000 in graded value, that might only be $2500-3000 in raw value. The money you would spend grading though to get close to the $5000 would far outweigh that value though. It’s best to seek out a collector/buyer local to your area or online who will pay you more than a comic shop. Keep in mind a good offer is anywhere from 40-60% of the perceived value, something you will have to agree on. You say $5000 but someone more in tune with the hobby mag say it’s more like $3000-3500 in value. Again the pricing tool you use may or may not be accurate. Beat of luck though. Starting with putting together a list (series, issue, grade estimate) will be crucial
  14. Definitely one of the nicest copies I’ve seen and I am always looking for this and the others from the series in VF if possible. 9.4-9.6 from me here
  15. Proof that there are still value villages out there that don’t look up stuff and price comics at $1.50 a pop
  16. Yikes. That’s a bad miss. I get grading can be subjective but that is 8.0 or so at best. If I had gotten that back I would have called CGC and dealt with making them regrade properly on their dime
  17. I love seeing this:) keeps the hopes alive for myself as it’s been a bit since I’ve had a big find score as well
  18. Shows you when I stopped really following what was hot/not
  19. So last year I croaked to see that PPTS issue with Hypno Hustler selling for silly amounts (as it was a random book I long proclaimed to myself would never have value) Well now it’s Thor 317, first Zaniac, a book I also used to look at and say “lol if this ever cracks $20 in value I’ll be stunned” Guys are posting on FB groups asking $50-60 or more now. Dunno if they are getting it but I should flip through my stuff and find another character who will never be
  20. Pending sale on 106. Thread closed, 105 is going for grading. Thanks all!
  21. Will drop down to $1300 for the pair. If no takers I’ll remove and continue elsewhere:) thanks for looking!
  22. Hi all, Selling these two as a package but will entertain separate offers if I’m unable to sell together Flash 105 is in the 2.5-3.0 range. Cover attached, three small stain marks near Mirror Masters head on cover. Moderate spine wear and some creasing to lower half of book. Centrefold detached at bottom staple. Some staple rust on both staples that is contained to the staple area. Flash 106 is in the 2.0-2.5 range. Staining to cover, some ink removal or tape pulls on cover and top right corner. Staples are better with minor rust on bottom one. Like the other the centrefold is detached at bottom staple. Asking $1550 for the pair. First claim gets them, all offers welcome. Will ship tracked and insured. PayPal please for payment. If you are unhappy upon arrival, let me know and we will make sure everyone is happy. If you have any questions please let me know!
  23. I wanted to say 6.5 on the motion pictures and that would have given me a single point! But I hammered it needlessly and got 3 points Bullseyes elsewhere tho!
  24. Considering I went 8.0 on the ASM and 9.0 on the HoS I’ll say those two effed me. The first three I only earned 2 points on But I seem to be the only one who used his phone and missed all these flaws so my loss here I guess. Oof marone!
  25. Ok that’s what I assumed as I did not think CGC would do this on their own. Thanks!
