  1. I would much rather watch 8-10 one hour episodes of a TV show on a platform like Netflix than spend 2.5 hours in a theater. The reward for a great movie just is not there, whereas with show being released the way they are, I can control the pace and generally, they contain a lot more quality acting and storytelling than is crammed into 2.5 hours.
  2. Movie stars get paid too much. Who really needs more than 10 million bucks to survive? Allocate money properly so everyone has a chance to thrive. If the theater biz crashing hurts them, so be it. I honestly don't have sympathy. I get the nostalgia of the theater. But it has gone. Theatres have done nothing to change the experience. They are still the same (injecting a couple rows of premium seats for people to pay more and charging $10 for a bag of popcorn does not help your cause). Things change. Theatres have not which is why they are destined to continue to fall. They may not disappear but they will never be what they once were.
  3. How many graders does CGC have? Suppose they have 100. Or maybe its only 50, I don't know. Are you telling me that 50 guys would grade every book the same? Nope. You are gambling whether you get the guy who grades oh so slightly more harsher or the guy who grades oh so slightly more lenient. The real geniuses are CGC who decided to monopolize on the fact that comics are graded on a scale that is so minute at the top end. And the result is people willing to send in anything close for the hope of a 9.8 or heaven forbid, 9.9 or 10.0. You are trusting them to all equally see things the way you see them. CGC doesn't have to worry about being accountable, aside from making sure at any point they have your book, they don't damage it. That is it (and maybe making sure a grader doesn't grade a VG book VF and vice versa). The rest, they can justify. You can press that 9.6 book again and submit and maybe it comes back 9.6. And so you try again. And again. And maybe, just maybe, it gets a grader on an off-day or a rushed day or the lenient grader or whatever and he says "yeah this looks perfect" and you get the 9.8. Is CGC going to refund you the hassle it took to get there? Nope. They can't lose.
  4. Here is what I see. Both bottom left corners show the tiniest amount of wear. It appears worse on the first image BUT on the second image, I can see some slight colour loss along the spine AND the top left corner on the back is oh so slightly frayed whereas the first image looks pristine. So first pic has one extremely minor flaw and copy two has two/three so bottom image is 9.6 and top 9.8
  5. While I won't buy, I thank you for sharing a cover I have never seen! (and a great date stamp!)
  6. Is this the first reprint of JIM #83? At this point in my life, I feel like the only way I am gonna own some of these "big" books is by getting the Golden Record reprints. In some ways, they are cooler. In some but not many 5.5 from me!
  7. It is. It's art but not art that excites me. It's okay if you like it, I am not here to debate lol. That is fine. I find that appalling and would not read a comic with that as the artwork every time. Just like I would not read or pay for something by Jim Lee or Rob Liefeld or Ramos or a large number of artists. Art is subjective hence the variety and hence why anyone can find a comic they love.
  8. I am familiar with it. That style with borderline anime-esque faces and typical nineties flash turns me off. All of it. I can get behind McFarlane and to a slight degree, Bagley. I hate Jim Lee and think he is terrible but I realize I am in the minority there. He obviously has lots of fans. I just am not one.
  9. Nope. I am not gonna say the stories are bad because I have no idea. But the artwork I cannot stand. And because comics are a visual medium for me, I have to at least be intrigued by the art to get into it.
  10. I am a visual comic guy. My comics need to look good. You can smear a great novel in poo and underneath the poo, sure, there is a great novel. But you have to look at the poo ob every page, smell it, feel like its infecting you. That is how I feel with most 90s material because of the art. It turns me off to the point where I dont even bother.
  11. If left as is in the bag, someone might pony up $10-20 to have them in the bags. Maybe. Sorry I just find Youngblood and Wild Cats so terrible that even the thought of someone at CGC wasting their time grading them makes me sick.
  12. Are you grading because you like those books? If so, go for it. The bags they come in were just packages they put together. Like multi packs Are you grading them for value? A 9.8 Youngblood 1 sells for maybe $40. And I think Wild Cats is even less. So if you are selling, you would spend as much to grade, potentially, as you would get back from a sale.
  13. Yeah there are enough fans I am sure someone would. I think selling it raw is the only way to go. Grading would get the restored label and on a book like this, good luck selling a likely 3.5-4.0 copy restored.
  14. No press I mean, a press pro MIGHT be able to line up them staples nicer but that could risk popping a staple. To me, the alignment the way is it is better than a nice alignment but a popped staple. The rest of the flaws are not something a press helps (unless the book is wavy or curled and doesn't lie flat). Even then, I think this book grades 2.5-3.0 with or without a press.
  15. I am imaging the bug chew there. Probably could have sold for $60-$80 or so with the chew. Someone would have paid to have a cheaper low grade copy. This? Jeez if someone paid $20-40 I would be surprised. It just is so off putting. Like, if I saw someone selling it for $40, I would pass. First, if I get a copy I want it all there and lord knows there are zillions of theses. And at $40, to potentially even flip it would be hard. So yeah, def a poor decision. Reminds me when I was a kid I had hockey cards (don't worry, I know they were worthless and still are even if I hadn't done this) that I clipped the corners on because I though rounded corners would be less likely to catch and bend on things. Oh silly 7 year old me!
  16. It is a printing defect. Sometimes people pay more for it. I find the market for backwards printed books to be very small, if even existent other than the novelty. For example, I sold a bronze age book that was manufactured with the interior pages all stuck together at the top in the middle. The book was a $2 book. I tried to sell for $15 for the novelty and....nothing. Eventually someone paid me $4 for it because they were willing to spend just a smidge more for something a bit odd. That is more often the case than finding a printing defect that people will pay tons for. The only printing "defect" people seem to enjoy frequently is multiple covers.
  17. Yup The tale of this book was woven back in 2017 or so. Guy bought it for $100, had it graded and sold for over $8000 if memory serves. There were a couple topics on here at the time. To my knowledge, ASM #361 has an 8 cover and a 12 cover copy floating around that CGC has graded.
  18. Awesome image! Do you sell it? My only critique is Thanos. He looks kinda like a grumpy old guy. The colouring is fantastic!
  19. Some recent additions. Needed #3 to complete my Red Wolf run. As for the Black Knight, it snuck by unnoticed in an inexpensive lot. Not a book I wanted to pay $40-50 for but for $5, sure!
  20. Three? Pfffft don't offer up multi covers unless you have at LEAST six
  21. Jeez you can't even see the tear until the third pic eh. Must be small. 7.0 is where I fall.
  22. 5.5 Pressing would be a waste of time. Moderate spine ticks and wear, corner creases and small spine split. A bit too much to hit 6.0 for me and not enough to lower to 5.0.
  23. Yeah 4.5 mayyybbeee 5.0 but that staple rust has me thinking it will keep it from 5.0
