  1. Wouldn’t mind knowing what some other eagle eye of agamottos think of this one. Thanks!
  2. Hmm you can’t even see the tape snag in the full on photo. It must be super small. 7.5 from me
  3. I could submit mine for a yellow green label if they treat my unwitnessed Stan and Gil sigs as such....mmmmmm green and yellow!
  4. I'd love to know of a Romita Sr. signing. My ASM 97 with Stan and Gil's signature kind of needs his to complete the trifecta
  5. I'm a patient guy but I am starting to miss my DD#1...it has been since March but she seems likely to arrive back with the next month or so. It will be a welcomed return!
  6. I feel like my copy looks similar to this and I call mine a 9.4 although I wonder if it has more potential.
  7. I've always imagined my ASM 97 with Gil Kane's signature in the same location would potentially fetch more than a regular copy (it is likely a 6.0-6.5 book). But maybe not...I like seeing the signature which is why I am unlikely to ever grade it until I am old and potentially selling my collection off, if that is required.
  8. There are, haha in terms of first appearance books with bad covers, lot of threads. But I feel this scenario would be unique in that the second appearance cover is so iconic. I think of Strange Tales #110 first Dr Strange. Not on cover but that book has value. However his first actual cover I don't think is for several issues later in 118? I think? Does that book mean it should outpace 110? I don't think so. But what if his second appearance was issue #111 and he was drawn full out on it, in full on Ditko art? Once can imagine that would have a TON of value....but could it outstrip the #110? I just thought it facinating that a lot of people today seem to care most about showing their books and they like it when the character they love appears on the cover and are seemingly willing to pay a premium when that appearance coincides with a first appearance of any character.
  9. I feel like this is a case where I would also personally still value and desire AF 15 more. Would it now be Spidey's first appearance? No. Would it be a much more interesting book to look at and display? For me yes. I would still eventually strive to get AF 14 but it would not be as crucial for me personally.
  10. A friend and I were discussing comics the other day. He is a firm believer in Xmen Annual 14 being Gambits first appearance, as nothing about his appearance in this issue is close to other definitions of cameo due to how often Gambit is seen. My friend also understands that Xmen 266 is a great cover (for Gambit fans anyway) but ultimately is a second appearance. This got us onto the importance of a first appearance of any character and how if they also appear on the cover, the price of such a book is at a premium. All of this lead me to pose the following “what if” scenario pertaining to the history of comics. What if at the end of Amazing Fantasy 14, which is shown below, Stan had featured in the final four pages, a mini introduction to Spider-Man? It would clearly have given details about Peter, how he had powers and was Spider-Man, with plenty of images of him swinging around New York and even a couple of him battling thieves. Overall it would read like a short narrative and ends with “but how did Peter end up like this? Tune in next month for more exciting details about the amazing Spider-Man!” So all that happens at the end of this book And then this comes out next in all it’s glory Does this alteration in history automatically make AF14 the more valuable book? Certainly it would have much more value than it currently does but would the true first appearance of such an iconic figure in this way cause a reallllllly boring cover like AF14 to outpace AF15?
  11. 8.5 9.0 as is, with 9.2 potential after a press
  12. Yeah 8.5 I feel is the low end...could get 9.0-9.2 it is hard to tell in some of the pics what is happening. But the spine and corners don't seem bad or like there are any creases.
  13. First, can I have? Second, serious...I like it a lot Finally...5.5-6.0 potential here. Very nice mid grade copy!
  14. 3.0 Don't waste money on a press.. won't help and once put in a slab (if choosing to) it will be flat. The staple rust is killer, otherwise it could hit 4.0-4.5
  15. I agree with others here...I have several ASM books like this and depending on the other wear, I feel they fall 3.5 for the rougher ones to maybe 5.0 for the nicer one where the book length crease is the only real detractor.
  16. I will also say 1.5-1.8 If the hole punches were not there, maybe 2.5-3.0. So yes a drop but nowhere near as bad as a Fine copy with hole punches.
  17. Very nice! I think the key (or at least for me when sending books) is all the edges. This copy had a flawless spine, top and bottom edge and corners both font and back. No bends, or wear really visible. I guessed 9.4-9.6 before scrolling down but a 9.8 make sense here...the only thing I thought I saw was some discoloration spots on the bottom staple (not sure if thats the case at all).
  18. Still a solid newsie! Colour rub gets hit HARD. If not for that flaw, this would likely have been closer to 8.5-9.0
  19. My pile is large. Collection size is between 4000-5000 books and I’d estimate there are a good 500-700 comics still unread. It’s ok though because it gives me something to perpetually peck away at. Family time comes first. Also for many of these issues they are parts of small runs that I’ve yet to finish…and I’m kinda waiting til I do so I can read the run straight through
  20. Yeah the stories in Dazzler are poop. That cover and the Bill S covers later on are the only issues I’ve kept and the art is the sole reason why.
  21. I also don’t see the stain a previous poster mention. I mean that back bottom left corner appears to just be a shadow from the picture. If there is a stain, I agree with the 4.5-5.0 assessment and applaud the eagle eye. However if no stain, the spine split is the biggest flaw here. Keeps it from a 7.0. This a 6.0 is where I am falling, worst case 5.5 if CGC hammers that split and 6.5 at best if they feeling lovey dovey. And if you paid full on 7.0 price for it I would be tempted to return. If you got a decent deal well then it’s up to you if you are happy with it.
  22. Looks nicer than my 6.0 which is graded but it also doesn’t have small pieces missing. It does have more noticeable corner creases on the front. This one I feel could fall in the 6.0-6.5 range
  23. Or how about a bundle…take the Xmen 45 and The Creature for $245 shipped
  24. Dell Comics….The Creature! Second printing Has some flaws…staple rust, stains at staples, dog eared corners and a cut mark through the back cover and first page of the back of the book. Hard to price, seems all over the place online. I’m calling it a 3.0. $75USD shipped??? Shoot me an offer.
  25. My copy is a 9.0 and yours looks way nicer. Press that corner bend and I would not be shocked to see 9.4 easy
