  1. I just don't get how adding books is a violation for excessive bumping? Whether your thread is closed or not, I don't see the problem in adding more books. I wouldn't call that a bump, but just adding more books. As for "bumping" your closed thread just to say it was closed. Did you miss the huge discussion on the fellow who was bumping 2 year old want to buy threads. The main problem is that the original posters did not close their threads. And how many times have we seen some noob post an I'll take it on a book that has now become hot in a 2 year old thread. So I think it is very reasonable to post just to say your thread is closed. Of course, this coming from the guy who has 1 year long sales threads How about all those people that run sales threads that encourage people to "talk" in their thread, post pictures and generally have fun. How about all the popcorn, how about all the hi's etc etc etc. I think everyone could complain about something every single seller on this board has done. Does one post saying your sales thread is closed really clutter up the boards, no, does it serve a purpose yes. Does posting more books serve a purpose yes, no different then if your sales thread was still open. How about all "useless" banter that goes on in some sales threads. What purpose does that serve? It's what makes this a community, that's what. I know some people just love those sales threads. Personally I avoid them, but do I resent them? No. I accept it as part of this growing community. After posting a bunch of books, and there is no action, I ask if anyone is out there, is that a shameless bump then too? Well considering I'm already at the top of the sales thread because I just posted, I would hope not. My point is for the most part people are just trying to have a little fun on here. I love this board with so many great people and it's the little quirks of each individual and how they conduct themselves that make it that way. Of course by little quirks I don't mean the scammers. If everyone ran their sales threads the same way it would be boring. So, auctions? If people want to do auctions, let them have it. But let's put them where they belong in their own sub-forum.
  2. Not much more to say? Some don't want auction at all. Some want auctions. Almost all of Both camps think auctions should be in their own sub-forum if we are going to allow them. Just up to the mods to create one for us and see how the cards fall.
  3. I would say just one sub-forum under forum only selling for now. If there gets to be too many auctions then I suppose it could get split up later. I wouldn't be opposed to having one under each sub-forum mind you, but I think we also need to keep the mods in mind and how much extra work all those selling sub-forums would cause.
  4. As of right now auctions are allowed in the regular selling forums. So no matter what something has to be done, because doing nothing and leaving it unregulated IS opening the door to a world of hurt. I think that's the point us people that are pro auction sub-forum are trying to make. I'm having deja vu here, not long after joining the forum I fought to split the single sales thread up. And again at that time there were those that were against change saying it was not needed etc. At that point there was one forum for all ages and including ebay sales. It was ridiculous sifting through pages of ebay sales trying to find true forum sales. Why not prevent the same thing from happening and being proactive. At worst it gets shut down. At least by giving the beast it's own space, it will have rules and not interrupt or take away space from the other selling forums. And again, If it gets out of hand, then shut it down.
  5. As I was saying, the potential is there for a large increase. Right now I'm sure a lot of board members are waiting to see how things play out with rules etc. Ebay has changed it's rules recently leading to a potential influx. Auctions have only started recently, as word gets out to ebayers there will be more. Joey, As of now auctions ARE being allowed, so what is the actual harm in creating a sub-forum for them. At least it keeps the drama out the regular selling threads. In other words creating a new sub-forum will not create/release more drama, it will just move any drama assoc with auctions to a different place. If they don't work Arch can just shut it down.
  6. I agree also that this place has drawn in undesirables. I used to participate in general, water cooler, probation etc. But with the drama I now don't bother. However I still love this forum and there are many great people on here, some I've met. If people don't like the auction sub-forum idea I think they should just ignore it as I've chosen to do with threads I don't like.
  7. Whether we predict an auctions thread will not last long or not there still needs to be a seperate sub-forum for them or for them to banned. Otherwise within a month the potential is there for 500 auctions a day to be here with every person on ebay starting one. Middas well get the pain over with now while things are slow before it gets out of control and Arch is stuck with damage clean-up in the regular sales threads. My nickel's worth: 1.One thread at a time. (as someone pointed out can always relax this to say three threads later if this is successful) 2.Limit of 5 or 10 auctions per thread. No limit on amount of items in an auction (however for clarity, all items must start at the same time and end at the same time) Once the auctions are over the thread gets closed by seller and nobody posts to them (this includes not posting congrats to seller etc. In fact I would say limit auction threads to the seller posting the items and to bids only. No comments like nice books etc as that will just clutter. 3.No reserve, a BIN is up to seller 4.Bid increments of at least a $1 or it could get ricidulous with people out pennying each other 5.Bumping - A seller must recap his thread with latest bids on each item once per day - in other words if you're going to list stuff in auction format don't go out of town. Recapping/bumping in the last 8 hours should be fine as well. If there are no bids then no recap, except for final 8 hours. 6. Sellers should have a minimum post AND time on forum count - there really needs to be some limit here or we'll have every fly by night scammer from ebay on here. Newbies may not like it but it's the COST of getting a free auction and it's a way of keeping poor Arch sane. 7.No mystery boxes 8.Auction duration 1-7 days 9.As someone else mentioned title must include end time Maybe Arch could put some stuff to a vote over a week period as there will be a thousand opinions.
  8. I think people are just testing the waters still, but the flood gates will open soon enough for this type of stuff. IMO people should be allowed to auction whatever they want, I don't see why we would limit that, but we need to get some rules in place before things become a problem. Comicart has the right idea of where things should end up. Have one auction thread with a bunch of books. However I think there should be a separate sub-forum for auction type sales threads as there will quickly be a lot of them.
  9. With an increase in auctions on the board, is it time to maybe consider an auction sub-forum with a few rules. One rule being one auction thread at a time per member and a maximum number of books (say 20). ? We don't have sense cents in Canada anymore so my nickel's worth. Thoughts?
  10. I've bought quite a few lots off of him now. Everything is as described, he communicates promptly, ships fast and packages well. Thanks for another great lot and will be watching for the next one.
  11. What about some of the other books? For instance I have 2 x #2's Both have exact same cover including price, same indica including date, same ads etc. Only difference is one has 54321 and one has 5432 I have a 543 of #3 but at least it has a different cover price to distinguish (although it still says first print). I have a #5 that has 5432 but it says 2nd printing and a different date so easy to distinguish also And now to throw another wrench into the pot I have one that says 2nd printing but has 5 4 3
  12. Just wanted to confirm something. It's been mentioned that the last number of the sequence 5 4 3 is the print. So if it says exactly that above it is 3rd print. What if it actually says "1st print" though?
  13. Great books, well packed, bagged and boarded, nicely graded. Thanks a bunch!!!
