    Good morning,

Sorry for the delay in response, I was waiting on a grader to get back to me with an answer to your question

We will most likely add or change up our available custom labels at some point throughout the year but we don't have any information what new labels will be coming out just yet.

Regarding your second question,   In the Silver Age of comics, Doctor Midnight first appears in FLASH #129 in a cameo with other JSA members, while Johnny Thunder first appears in FLASH #137 (again alongside other JSA members).

If you have any other questions, please let us know.  Thank you!

    Thank you

  2. 1. Does CGC plan on getting special DC character labels like Marvel?
    2. What does CGC consider as Dr. Mid- Nite and Johnny thunder 1st silver age appearance?
If I am only allow to ask one question at a time please answer question number two please.

Most people will with agree with you. I have plenty of spec books still but I don't think returns are going to be as good as the last decades. Not even remotely close.

Now if you are talking about ff 1-5 or 48 49, x-MEN 1 giant size asm 14 15 I already sold those so that's what I think about them as investment books.

Can I (cautiously) ask your opinion on Journey into Mystery annual 1( 1st Hercules) ? Do you see any potential in that book?

Thee are allot of people that have their books in too hot of a location so hopefully they will someday stumble across this topic and it will have been constructive.

Ten yrs later and somebody has, all this information has been very helpful. I’ll probably rent a Storage unit climate controlled.

How do people that dumb even earn enough money to buy comics?

Only if you've drunk the CGC koolaid, have never heard of Overstreet, can't think for yourself, or started collecting in the past 10 years. You know - dolts.

I love when they get denied lol the things they ask for are just ridiculous. Embarrassing even.

I agree on all your points lol

Why are you so hung up on what the label says? As you can see from Jennifer's response, CGC is not necessarily an authority on appearances.

Because your average buyer is lol, for many customers, you can claim whatever you like, but if what you say is not listed on the label they do not consider it to be true.  And as far CGC being authority on appearances, yeah they kinda are, which is why many fight so hard to get new appearances listed on the label, especially on these overhyped modern books.

Showcase 55 is April 1965; GL 40 is October 1965. JLA 22 is September of 1963--significantly earlier. For that matter, JLA 38 also features GA GL on the cover, and it is September 1965, predating GL 40 (but not Showcase 55).

I’ll probably end up purchasing a high copy of Showcase 55 since it states: 1st solo silver age appearance of Alan Scott,  on the label, but The Flash 129 (1962) also featured Alan Scott ( in flashback) and so does The Flash 137(1963).   That’s why, I don’t know man, I still wish his 1st silver age appearance was on the label, because every single member of the legion of superheroes has a spot on the label. Like how does bouncing boy ( Action Comics 276) get a spot but not Alan Scott? Lol

    Good afternoon,

Thanks for your message.  I did check with our graders on this and they advised that CGC acknowledges GREEN LANTERN #40 as Alan Scott's first Silver Age appearance. However, due to the fact that we already put a number of key comments on the label for this book such as: "Golden Age Green Lantern crossover. 1st appearance of Krona. Crisis begins. Origin of the Guardians" we do not, unfortunately, have the room on our labels to add the first appearance notation in this case.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.  Thank you!

    Thank you for your reply!

  9. Hey CGC, I don’t want any trouble or problems but..... What does CGC consider to be the first silver appearance of Alan Scott ? I can’t find a single CGC book with “ 1st silver age appearance of Alan Scott” and he is a very significant and historic character. I don’t want to waste my time and money sending in the wrong book.  I know you can send a sticky note but I need to know which book to send in and will the correct label be printed?

  10. Still extremely new to the world of collecting but I was thinking of purchasing this book and having the restoration removed. My question is can you even remove C-1 cover reinforce and color touch up ? My purpose would be to add to my collection and sell maybe one day for profit and I know restored books are frowned on. Thanks in advance to all answers.

Without knowing how “flat” the book presents and what other surface defects are evident on the covers, it would be hard to say.

i can say that all those color breaking spine ticks will not factor into a bump in grade from a press. The possible bump in grade would have to be achieved by improving other parts of the book.

are you able to see/Inspect the book in person or is this strictly based on pics only?

Very nice copy of a cool book either way.

maybe other boardies can chime in and assist you?

Yes this is just pics only from an online sell, I appreciate your replies.

    I don’t believe a 9.0 is unfair and is in the neighborhood...however...

If I were looking for a 9.0 copy for myself, I would want a slightly nicer spine and slightly sharper lower right FC corner...I consider this copy:

    8.5

Thank you and stupid question here but would a pressing possibly bump it to a 9.0?

  13. I have the money to purchase one item on the list below, which item has the most potential to make the most profit ? All items are CGC graded.

    Wonder Woman 6 - 1st Cheetah app (5.5)

    Sensation Comics 6 - 1st Magic Lasso (4.5)

    Fantastic Four 4-  1st SA Namor (7.5)

    Fantastic Four 5- 1st Doctor Doom(6.5)

    Superman 4- 2nd Lex Luther(7.5)

    Marvel Family 1- 1st Black Adam(4.5)

    Incredible Hulk 181- 1st full Wolverine (9.2)
