Well another one has been listed on eBay: 164/400:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/186349834743

But, alas, there isn't any curiosity as of late, though it'll change at some point - as, for the most part, the Miracleman/Marvelman is still rather underrated ~

I thought it would've been interesting to research why the texture of the surface of the certificates can look so different in photos & scans, and had hoped for a reaction or two, esp. from experts who've handled multiple copies over the years.

The #164 certificate looks badly faded, but that could be due to lighting conditions (although I guess it can't be ruled out that saturation was reduced in an effort to hide discoloration).

  2. I'll have to dig them out and check, but I don't remember the surface of my certificates (also have the blue) being this "textured". Did they switch to a different paper type at some point, or am I merely confused?

    From recent ebay auction:

Not the sharpest photos in the world, but the best I can do right now (click on thumbnails to expand).

PS: And, sorry, not color corrected either. Thoughts, anyone?

PPS: Wow, this topic is even deader than I thought. No intellectual curiosity whatsoever. Well, never mind ...

    093. DOUBLE? Owned by Mucher_dk, original purchase from either New England Comics or Mile High Comics [blank]

New England or Mile High are only best guesses, but it could have been another one of the shops that advertised heavily in the comics back in 1985. It's possible that only one or two offered the gold and blue MM, but which one(s) is a good question. I wish the paperwork had survived.

Interesting. Others like to claim that ALL of the golds had that crease, but I can't find it on my #93. Perhaps the phenomenon is limited to a certain number range? Btw, the number of known copies is higher than 51 as the listing in the OP hasn't been updated for a while.

EDIT: Never mind (found the crease)!

  5. You guys have some great stuff! I posted a couple of "group pics" of nearly all my stash a while back. I also scanned most of the covers, but without removing the sleeves, so the quality isn't 100%:

  6. Don't know how interesting this info is to anyone, but I have #93 (ungraded). I'm no longer sure where I got it back in the day, but (being Danish) it was by mail order and most likely from either New England Comics or Mile High Comics. I seem to recall that the gold edition set me back $50, and the blue edition $20 (or at least it was in that ballpark).
