  1. I'm not in any Facebook groups that do comic raffles, but there is another collectible group (for concert prints) that I'm a part of that do them. They always base the winning number off of the Powerball or Mega Millions drawings, so there's no way for them to be rigged via random number manipulation. It's actually not a bad system for that type of sale. I think I've only participated in them twice, and I won once (an extremely rare print, and I only personally paid 10% of the value). I have done a comic raffle on Instagram, and won my first one. I'm not typically that lucky, so I think that's the last one I'll do. 😊
  2. You see damage like that in books that have been slabbed? And the slabs are undamaged as well? It sounds more like paranoia than documented reasoning to store the slabs spine down. I mean no judgement if that's the way you want to do it, but I'd like to see some actual evidence/data before I throw out my storage cases.
  3. Just won a raffle for a low grade ASM 50, and I'm ecstatic! It's only a 3.5, but I was on the hunt for a copy that I didn't have to spend a ton of money for (due to the W.A.F.).
  4. I'm not sure this is a good place to debate the merits of the grading companies, but I will say that after receiving that one I much prefer CGC's slabs. I get my comics graded and slabbed for me, not to resell, so I wanted to make sure that there wasn't a better product out there regardless of the secondary market for them.
  5. Wanted to pick up a PGX book just to see what their slab was like (never seen one in person before), and managed to get this for $11. Reprint of Amazing Spider-Man #129.
  6. Sorry I'm still new to this - what do you mean by paper loss?
  7. Photo of the inside is there, you just have to hit the "Reveal hidden contents." Didn't want the thread to be crazy long with pictures unless you really wanted to see them.
  8. Hydro-man (issue 212) and Black Cat (194) are probably the cheapest of the lot. The later issues, like Carnage (360/361), Venom (300), and Hobgoblin (238) will be easier to find in good condition, but they are somewhat expensive. You could also go for 136, which is the first appearance of Harry Osborne as the Green Goblin. It doesn't go for nearly as much as the first appearance of the original Green Goblin. But definitely be prepared to lay out some cash. Most of those are very pricey.
  9. Had this for a while and I'm thinking of having it pressed and graded. I've never had a book pressed before, but I feel like this is a pretty good candidate. Lies flat and the spine looks good. Covers below, and details behind the spoiler tags.
  10. Just picked this up for what I hope was a great deal. I'm not experienced (or any good) at grading myself, but I feel like this is in pretty good condition. The only thing that really concerns me is the position of the staples - they're not really on the spine. Of course they were like that to begin with and not due to spine roll, so I'm hoping it doesn't ding the grade too much. I plan on sending it in soon, although I may have it pressed first as the bottom right corner doesn't lie flat. Here are some photos (additional photos under the spoiler tag):
  11. Yep it does have the tattoos. Seller said he was surprised when he saw the tear and said he had no idea how it got there.
  12. So this book is on its way to me, that I got for very cheap due to some damage. I only have two pictures, so I know it's hard/impossible to give a full grade on it. What I'm really looking for is what the maximum possible rating could be given the tear at the staple. The seller described it as in likely "very fine" condition if not for that tear. Assuming he was correct (and he was pretty conservative on the condition of some other items I purchased), could it be possible for this to come back as a 7.0? Or does that damage push it even lower?
