Hollywood1892 reacted to gadzukes in Lets give a shout out to some Mail-Carriers
This morning as I sipped my coffee and read the morning news, my phone beeped.  A text from my mail-carrier Cindy.  "Todd, I'm making my rounds early today and I have a package for you that will require a sig.  Will you be around?"  It made me think how thankful I am for such a great Mail-Carrier.  She really takes care of me.  We text!
On Cindy's 1st day delivering to me a couple years ago she went out of her way to come to my door and meet me.  She was told by my last carrier Jose, that I mailed and received quite a few packages.  Get this..... she wanted me to have her cel phone number so we could always have good communication when packages were coming or going.  How awesome is that!
As a Comic buyer/seller if you do not have a good relationship with your Mail-Carrier then you are really blowing it.  My last 3 carriers have all been awesome people.  Remember, they are carrying your "babies" (sometimes, really valuable babies) so take a moment to get to know them a little.  Also, take care of them at xmas (I always give my carrier a $50 gift cert during the holidays, although I'm definitely going to up it this year).
In our short chats at the mailbox, I found out that Cindy (who's about 55) sacrificed her career in Law Enforcement to move to my area to help take care of her dad who is old/sick.  Her salary now is about half of what it was.  In these last 2 years taking care of her dad, and being a full time postal carrier, thru online college she just got her Doctorate in a "Social services" field.
So, I call her "Doctor Cindy" every time I see her now.  My mail carrier is a Doctor, how many of you can say that?
Anyway, I just wanted to give a shout out to all the great Mail-Carriers out there.  Feel free to honor yours here.

It seems that the consensus here is that the GSP is good for sellers but not for buyers but that’s clearly not true for each sale there is a buyer using the GSP

Who went on to lose, nay...embarassed, in the first round.
(EDIT: not a big hockey fan, but i think the Lightning may have tied the record for most wins?  But they certainly didn't beat the record for most points.)

No matter how you define it, the period following Secret Wars was bad.  Poor writing, no real editorial direction, bad gimmicks (all those variant lenticular covers), loss of talented creators.  And it all led to the shake-up that saw CB Cebulski moved up to Editor-in-chief.  Honestly, ever since then, the brand has turned around.  But things were looking REAL bad for a time there.
DC went through a similar period where New 52 was kinda lambasted by the fans.  On the flipside, Rebirth was well received.  That Rebirth coincided with Marvels downturn only served to magnify how poor Marvel stories were flagging, comparatively speaking, at the time.

    That's pretty smart.
Last con I went to I bought two graded and one raw. I was or am pretty sure the raw is a bone mint 9.8 so I carried it back delicately,I was to paranoid to put it in the back pack for fear my fat a.. would crush it on the bus ride home.lol, but I used the backpack for the two graded.
I think a laptop bag would work well too,but I have yet to try it.

Backpack with a hard folder on the inside to protect raws or a few toploaders.   At this point I don't buy many books anymore at cons... maybe I buy one or two GA.
If I buy a page of art it's usually the last thing I buy at the show before I leave and I go to Hotflips to get a toploader to bring it home... or a certain boardie is generous beyond belief and he throws it in his artist portfolio that he carries around until it's time for me to depart.

Marvel has two series with legitimate #500 issues. Both were ended well before they hit #600.

4 wins in 5 years is a dynasty. 4 wins in 15 years is not even close.

I attended many English comic marts as a kid with nothing more.
    Crude but surprisingly effective.

IIRC, that was Mile High Comics' level of protection at the SDCC where Chuck was displaying the last of the Edgar Church books, such as the Red Raven 1.

As a seller, I do like it. International shipments typically came with special instructions, requests for declarations, and other time consuming variables. I've sent many things through Ebay Global shipping and haven't had many problems. It's also another layer of protection for sellers. I had one buyer try to scam us and an expensive statute get damaged. In both cases ebay had to work it out with the buyer, which they did.

I generally investigate the feedback on the seller first. If it's good than I would trust it getting to me.

I know all of the arguments from buyers who hate it, but as a seller, I like it a lot, and have been using it since it launched with absolutely zero issues. Also, I live in Kentucky, so shipping to Erlanger is fast and cheap for me, so it's a double bonus.

I just got an email that my book sent from the global shipping center just cleared customs.
At first I was reluctant to order from out of country, but now I'm not,Ebay keeps an eye on things I'd be more worried about the seller I think.
