  1. Yep, that blurry 9.0 is great-- here's what the CGC cert number came up as: CGC Cert # 1206331001 Title Detective Comics Issue 27 Issue Date 5/39 Issue Year 1939 Publisher D.C. Comics Grade 6.0 Page Quality OFF-WHITE TO WHITE Grade Date 09/30/2015 Grade Category Universal Pedigree Rockford Art Comments Finger, Siegel and Chambers stories Bob Kane, Joe Shuster, Jim Chambers and Frred Guardineer art, Bob Kane cover Key Comments 1st appearance of Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Commissioner James ""Jim"" Gordon.
  2. I know it's been a while, so I'll try and do everyone a solid: Rule 4. First “I’ll take it” in the thread trumps pm’s
  3. Hi All, I'd greatly appreciate opinions on grade. This one is pretty attractive head on--glossy, sharp corners, but the front cover especially has a lot going on e.g., indentations, some spine stress marks that break color. Looks like someone was writing something above the magazine. No ink or pencil on the cover and in one part it just barely breaks color but doesn't tear through to the other side. I'm quite confident it needs a press and am hoping it would take care of some of the issues. Greatly appreciate any thoughts on current condition vs potential condition with a press.
  4. Vampi #30---One of my personal favorites. I couldn't resist. Not the easiest in higher grades with the black border. Enrich outdid himself on this one.
  5. And Crow 1 in 9.8 continues to climb to unprecedented heights. Incredible. Saw it had something like 115 people watching. Here's the link for those interested. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-CALIBER-PRESS-THE-CROW-1-JIM-O-039-BARR-1ST-PRINT-CGC-9-8-WHITE-BOX7-/164163606378?hash=item2638e9d76a%3Ag%3APg0AAOSwvFlemPCb&nma=true&si=ASCu9VCuyjKHnviLK44%2B2Hlc05I%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  6. Boardie of the Year?! All along I had sensed I was in the presence of greatness, but boardie of the year?!?! I had not a clue
  7. Always exciting when a Crow #1 9.8 comes up for auction That cover is a thing of beauty and at last check there are 34 in this grade https://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-CALIBER-PRESS-THE-CROW-1-JIM-OBARR-1ST-PRINT-CGC-9-8-WHITE-BOX7/164163606378?hash=item2638e9d76a:g:Pg0AAOSwvFlemPCb&autorefresh=true
  8. Agreed, I'm torturing myself watching this, knowing I need to stay the course in my hunt for a key Vampi. I'm a moth to the flame
  9. Holy Smokes, I'm not even an old man and yet my reaction time compared to others reminds me when I tried to play Call of Duty Online and was slaughtered EVVVERRRY TIIIMMME by kids under 12. They all sounded like Mickey Mouse. Thank God this doesn't entail a headset, I'd be having flashbacks
  10. Hi All, Was stoked to find this copy of Crime Machine in the mail today. I've seen some really nice copies floating around the boards here, but found this on thE bay. Just the smallest tear on the spine (sorry, I don't have a steady hand) but the condition of the cover really caught my eye! Always so nice when the seller kindly ships a magazine or comic like it was going into battle--heavily armored
  11. I tend to agree with most of the others. Had he inspected the item more closely at the outset and called out the CT, then a refund would appear to be in order. He instead claimed ownership of the comic by engaging in a business transaction with CGC. Now if he wants to sell you his comic, assuming you want to buy it, then that’s a completely different conversation Notice I don’t see you goin back to the guy who sold it to you.. because you recognize how absurd this would be
  12. Oh man, for three hours I've been pressing refresh . My finger is bloodied. Call it commitment, call it lunacy, but at least I'm invested in something other than watching the news.
  13. As a kid, I wanted to own a comic store. As things stand currently, and this may be a bit dramatic, but the plight of the professional comic book seller who makes a living on certified comics would seemingly live and die by that paper label. And beyond the grade, interest/demand ebbs and flows. Couldn't imagine relying on this nebulous process to pay the bills. All credit to those who venture into the fray.
  14. Any higher grade skywald (e.g., Nightmare 15) would be pretty rad! Slabs too?!?! Please say more'
  15. I definitely prefer the original set, but man, some of the newer vampis are really impressive like this krs exclusive
  16. Just picked this Vampi 28 up. Looked really nice by my eyes. While i'm really not sure the grade, I won't claim that it's in the realm of that 9.6 that went for nearly 800 the other day, but I figured, why the heck not add this one to my collection? Of all the particular Vampis in that auction, the 28 was IMHO one of the biggest surprises at just how high it went.
  17. I can only hope that a thread 13 pages in didn't fail to mention these elites. Thank God for Oakman for bringing order to a chaotic world
