  1. Yes. Going forward do not be surprised when they charge you. Usually when one submission goes to grading they charge all of your open submissions.
  2. I agree but I don’t submit books to make a living. I am sure people that make a living that way would be pissed. But regardless I think we all can agree something must be done. 7-8 months for a slow submission is just not good for anyone. When we get into the height of convention season it could approach a year. Something drastic must be done.
  3. 100% Agree. However, for most people there is just too big of a gap between CGC and CBCS. They just take the bad customer service and continue submitting. I started sending books to CBCS but the wait times are just as bad for slow submissions. To be honest I just do not see a better option. I think if there was a truly better option people would start to move. This is the perfect time for a competitor to gain market share but apparently everybody has problems getting books out in a reasonable amount of time. My personal belief is that books should be graded within 3 months no matter the tier. Until a company can promise that then they are all similar in my opinion.
  4. 100% agree. If the customer has the money to send it in then why not. However, I generally do not send in books where the value after grading is less than $125. But if a customer wants to spend $24 plus shipping to grade a $5 book then let them.
  5. Should some of us buy at least one share of Blackstone stock so we can voice our opinion in a shareholders meeting?
  6. 100%. Just think of how many UF4 and WWBN 32 facsimile reprints are in the queue.
  7. Everybody has a right to their opinion. I have seen hauls on YouTube and I think to myself why in the hell are they submitting $50-60 books. I get that. I don't recommend they do it. But, just like any company, if the customer is willing to spend/waste their money then let them do it. CGC does not care if the $24 grading fee goes to grading a $400 book or a $1 book. It is all the same to them. I agree that hiring more graders is easy to say but harder to implement. Do we really want graders hired in a hurry? It would probably result in inconsistent grading. The only things I think will help would be to postpone signings and possibly pausing the modern submission tier for a few months to try to catch up. The people you are referring to will probably not want to spend for economy and the people who are smart will submit books where their profit is not affected too much. I just think saying "my books are better than yours" is elitist. I learned my lesson to sending books in as slow. I will only be sending in as fast from now on.
  8. Seriously. To think any persons books have a better right to be graded can suck it. Value is not necessarily just what it is worth but it could be sentimental as well. I don't care if you are submitting a $5,000 book or a $50 book. I personally don't submit books under $100 but if someone wants to do it then that is their money. Complain at the company allowing the TATs to get out of control, not the people submitting books.
  9. I think slabs assign an approximate value to the book whereas a raw book is so subjective. Think of passing away and now your collection is in the hands of someone who might know nothing about comics. Slabs at least can give a roadmap to what it is worth. Raws most likely will get pennies on the dollar unless the person knows how to grade and has the time to get top dollar. I feel better getting my higher priced books slabbed for that reason alone. Some of us spent decades collecting this stuff and for it to get bulked out for pennies on the dollar is a huge slap in the face.
  10. That would cost millions for them to do. I highly doubt this investment company that recently bought them out will go for that. I think the only thing that currently makes sense is to pause signing events until they catch up. However, that is a cash cow for them so another no to the solution. I don't see things getting better before they get worse. Unless people stop submitting and they see their bottom lines decrease significantly I do not see them doing anything. I am praying something good happens but until I see it things will probably get worse. Say hello to 1 year TAT's on modern slow.
  11. Pretty much. And the consensus is we just take it because they are the top grading company. I cut my submissions by at least half this last year.
  12. I just use this website so I don’t have to think. https://www.timeanddate.com/date/workdays.html
  13. Yep. That is the usual copy & paste job I get on my books.
  14. You are right. The grass is not greener. I am just talking about how CGC can fix this . Temporarily I am just sending in everything as fast track. It is not ideal because it is an extra $15 a book. But I guess time is money.
  15. God I wish I would have sent my economy as fast track. Easily at 150+ business days and still in SFG.
  16. Definitely. I have seen a lot of high volume dealers completely switch or cut back from submitting to CGC. I just have not seen them do anything lately other than raising prices and turnaround times getting worse. I don't know what it will take to right this ship. I am not sure if they just need to not take submissions for a few months to get caught up, postpone signature series events, etc. But I think most of us would agree they need to do something drastic.
  17. I get that they need the payment to be finished before they ship. But that can easily be done when the books go into G/E/I.
  18. Exactly. They are just racking up interest on our money for several months. You don’t pay for your food when you make the reservation, you pay after you eat.
  19. Pretty sure this is the wrong thread for this but some really nice books.
  20. Yep. They are charging early. My last submission was charged about 4 months before it shipped.
  21. I totally agree. Getting refunds is a pain in the . I had a submission a while back that was a pre-screen and they charged me the entire amount. Luckily it came back 25/25 in 9.8 but I was already dreading having to get a refund if there were rejects.
  22. Sorry to hear that, I truly believe since the wait times are so awful they should only charge when they go to G/QC. Otherwise, they are basically collecting interest on our money. Bad business model in my opinion.
  23. That really makes no sense. Whether it is a flipper or a collector they are all customers who bring income for CGC. At the end of the day that is how a business works. I submit about 50-60 books a year so I am not high volume at all. I do not get bothered by the people submitting hundreds of books a month. The only thing I have a problem with if they are not meeting their turnaround times which is the current problem. My last submission was at least 25-30 days past the turnaround time I was given when I submitted them. If I am angry about anything it is the signature signings that seem to take priority over our submissions. But I get it. They are paying through the nose for those signings. No way would I pay anyone $100+ to mark up my book.
  24. Please tell me your next submission you will go through a third party presser. Don't waste unnecessary time.
  25. I am pretty sure it is just in the queue to be pressed. You will not know until it has been pressed until it moves again. There is no consistency to their status updates so it literally could be a few days to a couple months.
