And sort of off topic but USPS used an excuse I haven't seen yet that I recall. Usually it's out for delivery then gets delayed due to "animal interference" regardless of the fact that there are never any effing animals to interfere with delivery. Today my Silvestri remarque was out for delivery and got delayed due to "no access to delivery location".  Sure, my absolutely unobstructed regular a*s home had "no access". Didn't stop my regular junk mail!! :pullhair:

Yeesh, that's annoying.  Did you end up getting it this week?  My book hit the local area with the USPS last Saturday, so based on countless deliveries before, I anticipated to receive on Monday.  Absolutely no movement or updates until Thursday when it was finally ready for me to pick up.  In the grand scheme of things, no big deal, but man that was some unneeded extra stress to be added to the entire wait.  Haven't opened mine up yet, as this point it's going to be a nice Christmas morning surprise.

My submission went from Waiting for Grading to G?E/I today finally so I think things are moving on now!  Who did you guys request? I went with Mr Sinister on an X-men blank. The Gambit I saw posted is great and I hope to get that type quality

Nice, hopefully that means something soon for you. That Gambit was sick, and hope your Sinister turns out just as good.

I’m actually a bit nervous about mine. I requested Wolverine on a sketch jam cover to go along with previous contributions by Beatty, Zeck, and Jim Lee. Unfortunately Jim got a little greedy with his corner, and his signature invaded some of the space left for Marc…

    Hoping for the best!

I'm still waiting on a Silvestri remark on a comic also, note last week they showed examples so I am betting he just gave them the remarks back even though the base signing was done in September.

Thanks for posting this.  I don't check CGC's social media often enough, but this feels like the first real update since end of September when we started getting G/E/I notifications.  I see CGC's Instagram post now and the Remarques pictured are beautiful.  Hope mine turned out just as good and it'll be a short 6 weeks or less wait now, providing all 50 were returned at the same time.

I inquired about when my (Silvestri remarque, no pressing) stuck in G/E/I order would ship, below is the response:

Thank you for your email, this private signing took place on 9/14/21 and this is when the 6-week turnaround time begins, the submission is currently in the Grading room being graded. It should be completed approximately by the end of the month. "

Nice to find this, thanks. My Silvestri Remarque hit G/E/I Sept. 30th, never saw any info on the actual signing date, so I’ve been counting the weeks since then. Will be nice if it actually ships next week!

    o/ internet high-5!

FWIW, watching signer videos on Insta/FB, I think remarque books usually take place after all the signings so yours will probably be waaay back at end of queue for this event.

Haha thanks, right back at you for your good news, but get em both up for more because my status finally changed this morning to G/f’in-E/f’in-I!

YES! My Marc Silvestri InHouse Signing moved to G/E/I! Soon I won't have to scroll down past a bunch of completed subs to check on this one.

Cutoff was July 5th so happy to see movement even if it was apparently another unannounced visit.

Thank you for your update! I paid for a remarque, so looking forward to seeing movement on mine soon!

I don't understand why they would, out of the blue, make this comic a thinner size.   (shrug)

Agreed.  Like I said before, looks like the comic is still inside the inner well, but to the extreme right of it.  But also, when you compare it to the left border of the well, the right side seems to extend out further & almost to the edge of the label, unlike the left.  We're talking millimeters here, but I can't stop thinking about how odd it looks.

Production/slabbing issue that got past quality control?

So based on your pic, I'm thinking for my picture that it's a slightly smaller comic that either wasn't centered very well in the slab, or it's been jostled around quite a bit?

My example has those plastic tabs in the slab, which seem a lot less effective that what I'm seeing in yours: a nice pocket made of seals to keep it firmly in place.

  9. I don't have the slab in hand so I can't measure: is the comic just smaller than the typical modern size, so it fits in the slab funny?  I've never seen something like this before.  Apparently it's in a standard-sized CGC slab, and it looks like it's seated inside the inner well for the comic, even if that inner well appears far too wide.

Mine is "received" since 5/21. The books went to CCS on 7/15-7/16 so 3 weeks would put us around Aug 5th-6th. But what can I say, I'm impatient. Plus I am crossing my fingers that my book Daredevil 168 gets bumped from a 9.6 to a 9.8 with a pressing.

I see. So did you call or email CGC to get that info about the CCS dates?

I’m impatient too, but part of the problem is that we’re like moths to a flame when given a status listing. I mean it says Received now, but who knows what it might say 37 seconds from now, right??

Hoping you get that bump man!

That's a bummer, man.  I don't mean this is a condescending way: at least it looks good from afar (pic 1)?  I had a book I sent in for a reslab back in April because of Newton Rings and "hilarity" ensured with the shipment special thanks to the USPS.  Luckily CGC maintained the grade with a courtesy pressing and sent it back.  Not as many as before but still some Newton Rings.  Funniest thing, though, considering the alternative...they don't look so bad anymore!

Has anyone run into this issue I just saw?

Logged into my cgc account to check on my two recent submitals, but my account is now showing I have none. Just a couple days ago it was showing two of my older ones that I have already received back in March along with stating my two newest ones were scheduled for grading.  Now it's showing i do not have anything at all.  I have even typed in my submission numbers (including my older ones) and it now states "we haven't received anything from you in the last eight months".  I'm hoping this is due to them being in the middle of a software upgrade or something.  This happen to anyone else?

I have a book currently with CGC and the submission is no longer listed. I also had 2 previous submissions back in April (since been returned to me) that can no longer be found.

Found a topic from 2018–this had happened before where submissions suddenly stopped showing up. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about.

Good morning, thanks for your message.  Can you advise which customer service rep you were dealing with and I can check with them to see what is going on with your order.

    Thanks!

    Hi Jennifer,

Sorry I didn't see this notification before, but I've been emailing back and forth with the representative this week and she just informed me today via email that both comics will maintain their original 9.8 grades, so all is good.  Thank you!

I have filed claims for damages with the USPS and they took my damaged items as "evidence".  So, with a rare book, you almost wouldn't want to file a claim as they'd take away your irreplaceable item.

That’s good information to know, thank you. That also complicates things, of course. I wonder if the USPS would offer me an extension, based on the outcome of the work CGC is doing to try to preserve the original grades of the books before the shipment? Just pondering, not asking you to answer

Though again, I feel like this all comes back to original evidence of the damage. If CGC can’t keep them at 9.8’s, it wouldn’t surprise me if USPS demanded evidence of original damage to pay out the insurance. Ugh. This just sucks on so many levels. I’ll not be mailing ever again. Insurance sounds great in theory, but only if the books are just lost.

Agree. They shouldn't do anything with them until they had contact with you.

Never filed a claim. But usps or insurance company doesn't need the damaged product? I figured if they paid the insurance they would want damaged item and auction off ones that still have some value. So insurance $ and possibly still get your 9.8s back sounds amazing. No wonder usps loses $ or has to raise prices. How many people are out there taking photos of their items, smashing them with a hammer and getting the insurance and their item back. File your return. Update us on how it turns out.

Honestly though, my conscious would never let me do that. I’m not trying to make money off this somehow, just want my comics looking nice and still 9.8’s. Took me many months to track one of them down, and it means a lot to me.

I see a few flaws in this process.  As you said, there should be a protocol regarding damaged packages received by CGC.  They should be set aside, customer notified as soon as possible.  Maybe you didn't WANT them to proceed with the work, pending the outcome of the claim.  Maybe you wanted them to ship everything back AS IS, so YOU could document it and file your claim.

Nice that they are helping you gratis, but that may not have been the best plan.  What would have happened if you didn't notice it said Modern??  A lot more time would have gone by, and maybe you lose your path to remedy.  Most companies would have halted immediately, so as to not get involved in a tainted situation from a liability standpoint.  Quite odd.

I won’t lie: your thoughts have crossed my mind, and if it comes to it, I suppose those are always questions I can ask CGC. For now, I’m really hoping that how things have played out so far might be indicating that the damage was incredibly slight, if anything at all, and they’re pressing and regrading only as an over-abundance of caution. In this scenario, really hoping that the rep I communicated with just unintentionally caused me unnecessary concern.

  17. 13 minutes ago, Yorick said:

I think you should file a claim anyway (in spite of CGC attempting to fix USPS' mistake).  USPS needs to be held accountable for gross handling mistakes.  All you need are some pictures from CGC showing the box as it was received.  YOU are the one who bought the insurance.  YOU are the one that must file the claim.  There are definable costs here that have been incurred because of the post office's handling (I just hope the costs do not exceed your insurance limits).

Oh I definitely will file a claim. Like I said, just need to get pictures from CGC of the original damage, or the box, whatever they (hopefully) have. When I was talking to the rep yesterday, I asked for pictures and she said she’d forward my question on to the processing team and get back to me. That was a little of a bummer to hear, I guess I had hoped there would be protocols that would allow her to produce some evidence fairly quickly. That’s why I posted on here, to ask if anyone else has experienced this situation, and to help quell some of my unease until next week or whenever CGC gets back to me.

Not asking CGC to intervene for me. I’m fully prepared to do as much of the leg work as I need to hold USPS responsible for all this.
