  2. mom used to say "comedy is like love; it's where you find it..."
  3. been through all 13 pages now, 15 minutes of my life i'll never get back... and i swear i hadn't seen Plastic Man avatar on page 3 before i made the posting on that group of floppy wiener swamp dogs...
  4. omg, i'm dyin' over here... i had not seen this thread until entered against my will on page 13, going back now and reading all the entries, was only up to page 4 when you guys started piling on. this is hysterical...
  5. wait a minute, how did I get involved in this?!?!?!?! i just been mindin' my own business...
  6. What! that's a helluva super-power, imagine the possibilities! Too bad Plastic Man is already taken. Perhaps Jack Rabbit?... Hammer Time?...
  7. even better, then this could easily pull a 4.0! nice score!!
  8. wow, at first glance/first pics you posted, that thing is gorgeous, but i'm glad you posted the 2nd set. the stain doesn't look like much, but i was hammered a full grade for similar type items, and there are more vertical color-breaks along the spine that really show up in the 2nd pics. plus the spine breaks. also have to question the gloss/reflectivity, or lack thereof; might come back a 6.0, sadly it's probably not worth the regrade. having said that, what a dynamite book. trade you my next born...
  9. it's gotta be a low-paying grind, like Colonel Parker and Elvis...
  10. looks like some serious rust migration around those staples, that'll be a problem, particularly if that covers barely hangin' on. i'm guessing 3.5 otherwise, looks pretty nice for what i'm assuming was a garage sale flea market swapmeet something where you were bargain hunting. congrats, that is a sweet find!!
  11. just closed my 2nd deal with Gruson for slabbed Captain America 100 and 117 - smooth, quick, easy, honest, you can do business with this guy...
  12. as a plumber AND a ditch digger, i resent that... now THAT sounds like an intriguing story, if you're willing to share...
  13. more fun on ebay, "no more days in the electric chair..." https://www.ebay.com/itm/303240980648?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

  15. Howdy - This is the official feedback thread of 'Slappy Jones' for deals made on the forum. I'm new to the CGC boards, but have been on EBay since 2003 under 'Dillywhack'. Feedback will of course be reciprocated, thanks!
  16. just closed my first CGC board deal with Gruson, he grabbed my Marvel Super Heroes # 13 in 9.0 and Fantastic Four # 48 in 6.5 we had a smooth & easy transaction, great communication and coordination, super fast, super excellent!!
  17. Gruson you beast! I gotta start me one of these threads...
  18. I'm starting to think of it more like plotting on a bell curve, once you get to a certain point of high grade any flaws start to count exponentially...
  19. Good points, I appreciate the input. I'm not saying I necessarily disagree with CGC, more like working through the learning curve, trying to get a better feel for it on an ongoing basis. I had a similar issue on the Iron Man 55 that I submitted as well; had all the qualities of a solid 8.0 except for a small (1/4") chip out of the top corner of the back cover, came back as a 7.0, so what I'm taking away is having to put an even greater weight on 'singular' flaws. Conversely, I submitted an Avengers 4 that I expected to come back as a 5.5-6.0 just due to the overall wear, and it came back as a 7.0. In all, 13 books I submitted have come back; 3 came back with the exact grade I expected, 4 came back better than I expected, and 6 came back lower. Of the 10 that were different, 8 were off only by 1/2 grade. So this entire exercise for me is just fine-tuning!...
