  1. I did glance at a few but nothing jumped out. He was very specific at the setting at the beginning of MTU 3, but I couldn't find a match anywhere to what Ross drew. The Iron Man issue may have something l, I'll have to revisit it.
  2. Ok, here is a new comparison between the art Ross Andru penciled and the real-life reference he used. I haven't done a new one of these in probably over a year because I thought I had found them all. And for the most part, I had. This one is subtle and I guess I knew it was there, I just didn't give it any energy. In Giant-Size Spider-Man #2, the initial action is set in the power plant over by 59th Street Bridge (Queensborough Bridge today) and I had covered that reference fairly extensively, mostly owing to the fact that Ross did not draw the correct power plant that is actually located by the bridge. He corrects this in Amazing Spider-Man 152. The end of the story in GS SM #2 is set at the Empire State Building and Ross gives the reader a few panels of the ESB, just to make sure we aren't sleeping. But the thing I did not notice before was the little details he put into the ESB lobby. I do feel he took a lot of liberties on the elevators, but he makes them ornate, like the actual ESB elevators, which I think is neat.
  3. Yes, long droughts. Issue 1, Issue 80, Issue 186. If I remember correctly.
  4. Yes, those numbers were about what I was expecting. Very few in 9.6 and only 3 in 9.8. Nah, I left the game a few years back, but I always love to see a nice book or two.
  5. High Definition photo from June of 1978 from the Spider-Man television series. Ira Gallen posted these on Facebook and said he was the assistant director on the 2nd unit shooting. I haven't seen any better resolution than these, so I just thought they were cool. Not Ross Andru, but Ross Andru era.
  6. Great book. Back in the day, I always wanted a high grade copy that was reasonable priced. Never found one I liked.
  7. I remember buying this issue off the stands 48 years ago. So crazy what stays with you, but this small mistake registered in my brain.
  8. I agree that the dog looked odd in that first panel. No, there was never a scene or mention of him returning to pay, lol.
  9. Definitely lost some resolution and with the colors, it gets even worse. Example, look at the dogs mouth in the original art vs the published page. Teeth just disappear in a sea of black colors. And this is the first time in 48 years (almost exactly to the day) that I realize this young lady is doing her toe nails, lol.
  10. Hmm, this is a book I do not believe I have ever laid eyes on before. Thanks for sharing.
  11. You are 100% correct. Now, per my Reddit conversation, this gentlemen almost implies that this was not a printing error but an actual coloring error. That Glynis had inadvertently specified that Spider-Man's booty be fleshed toned. That's seems like an incredible hard error to make, but his friend (whom he did not name) said the mistake was clearly by Grace (who we surmise was actually Glynis). Lot of assumptions here, so take it with a grain of salt. No idea if this is what actually happened or not, but it makes for Chat board discussion 48 years later, so I like it.
  12. Ok, in just a crazy happenstance, someone on Reddit was looking for the book that this faux pas occurred in. He had posted his question to the world five years ago. I replied today seeing how it was fresh in my mind. He actually replied back today and thanked me, apparently never finding it over the last five years. Now here is the really interesting part, his friend worked in the room with Glynis Wein, who was the colorist for Amazing Spider-Man 157, during this time period and the friend had relayed to him about the error. Such a small world. Love it.
  13. Who knows why the printed page of this original art page by Andru and Esposito is infamous, or at least laugh-worthy?
  14. Really nice books. Most of these were before I started collecting the series at issue 242. I always thought Flash covers were dramatic. I love these.
  15. Probably make it on the tail end of most BA definitions. But I won't complain either way, nice books.
  16. I do wonder sometimes about how bad the original face had to be for Marvel to take the time to correct it?
  17. Lee, thanks the heads up. I can't afford them, but man I love to look at them.
  18. The only part of his head that is not a paste-up is that little tuft of hair, lol. Andru Spider-man original art prices have exploded. I love that he is finally getting the acclaim he deserves, but nearly all pages are definitely out of my resource capabilities. Even character pages are too pricey. I still love looking at them and posting them. Love finding the comments in the borders and the production warts from 50 years ago.
