I can't seem to find any pages of his recent stuff (so past 10 years) online anywhere for sale. Does anyone know if he actually sells his art online? Or is it just at shows he attends?

Kelley did sell some of his pages once upon a time (in the early 90's) but v rarely sells these days and has little interest in doing so. As you said, what's out there is mostly the inker's portions.

Too low I thought. It’s a beautiful cover. That one was a good buy no doubt.

Didn't the price to some degree reflect the damage? I wasn't to bothered by the description of condition as I hadn't enlarged the picture until a friend mentioned it. Once I saw the scoring right the way through it would definitely factor into my bidding.

My main goal is to be even more discerning with new acquisitions - keep modern/ new art purchases to a minimum and focus on nostalgia:

    Dave Mazzucchelli Born Again page

Sandman page(s) - already up on my CAF Want List

Huh, I just saw the 2 Kelley Jones Sandman pages on your wants list. I traded/sold both of them last year but you probably already know that.

I think both were subsequently sold on. At least one to a fellow boardie.

Some pieces finally starting to move upwards last nite and into this morning...bidding was fairly quiet for some time before today

When I looked last night there were quite a few lots that seemed much lower across the board than I might've expected. Obviously it's not over yet but I did wonder if this was a sign of wider economy. Or just a reflection of the quality of the art on offer and frequency of auctions this year.

Excellent art work I think the reaction is based on the bidding at this point. This one page could possibly hit 80-100 K. It doesn’t feature the Joker.

Would you pay that if you had it?

I feel I let better pages go in the past for far less $$$ and just couldn’t bring myself to pay this much for this KJ page.

Anyone else remember Mike Burkey had that climactic KJ page earlier 2000’s with Batman and the Joker for $40,000 for + a year I think.I worked night and day trying to scrounge funds to make a serious offer to Mike. When that page went away I gave up hope.

I'd never heard this or of Mike Burkey ever offering a Killing Joke page in the last 20 years. Which page was it?

Funny to hear Byrne take this stand when it's directly in conflict with his belief that a seller of his art has a moral obligation to send him a percentage of the profits from the sale.

Does he? I wasn’t aware. Wonder if he expects Claremont to send him a cheque for the X-men artwork he just sold.

  7. Martha Washington Needs YOU!

In the early 1990s a bunch of comic artists published under the “Legend” imprint contributed artwork to Frank Miller & Dave Gibbons’ “Martha Washington” series.

Walter Simonson, Paul Chadwick, Arthur Adams and Mike Mignola each produced a single pin-up image.

The original art has recently been unearthed and, inspired by #ComicWritersChallenge , will now be auctioned individually online through BritComicsArt.com for charity. In addition, Dave Gibbons and Frank Miller have each produced a new image for auction.

#MarthaArtAuctions proceeds will go directly to Black support organisations in the US and UK, chosen by the artists

The first auction will be for Walt Simonson's pin up of Martha Washington and it starts at 9pmUK time/ 1pm PDT on Monday 22nd June and will run for 5 days. Besides supporting a worthy cause this will be a rare opportunity to acquire a published Walt Simonson pin up for, as many collectors know, he does not usually sell his published artwork. Bids will be taken via the website and instructions can be found on the site once bidding opens on Monday.

If you have any queries, please contact us at BritComicsArt.com

    Cheers

Did a Google search and came across this 1951 Betty and Veronica #246 Dan DeCarlo cover. It's not on CAF anymore, asked Bill Cox who said it may have been a Ebay listing.

Very interested in tracking it down.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Zaddick

Not sure if this is still relevant but it looks like this Archie cover was sold by Comic Connect in Feb 2017.

Could you PM me an image of that catalog? I want to see it and see if I can get one for my collection as it will be the closest I'll ever get to a Sandman page again.

Have you seen the Graphitti Sandman Gallery Edition book? Similar format to IDW's Artist Edition. The Sandman GE reproduces most of Sandman issue 1 at the full original art size (13 x 20") and a selection of great pages from the whole run. There's also a Sandman: Overture edition in the pipeline.

    https://aeindex.org/reviews/the-sandman-gallery-edition/

And you can still order it direct from Graphitti

For full(er) disclosure, I did help put it together.

Sadly had to sell this lovely piece a few years ago, but figured you guys would appreciate it nonetheless....title splash to my favorite arc in the run, by, in my opinion, the best Sandman artist:

Cool to see this one. I had the opportunity to buy this page a few years ago and regretted passing even more after I acquired the last page from Season of the Mist. Thought it would have made a cool book end.
