I submitted a brand new Silver Surfer Rebirth #1 to CGC for the Mico Suayan private signing and remarking, paying $150 for the service. I received the book from BigTimeCollectibles, and it was in excellent condition. I took a picture of it and checked it over to make sure it was a 9.8, and it was, so I send it off. I don’t send ANY modern books in unless they are at least a 9.8/9.6. I receive the book back, and it’s graded at 9.2 (Grader’s Notes: light staining on the cover). I know, for a fact, there was not a stain on the cover! There doesn’t even appear to be a stain in encapsulation. I have emailed and called CGC to try to figure out what went wrong and how to get this rectified, but have not received a satisfactory answer yet. I got in touch with one agent who said someone’s book had recently been ruined when a handler/artist spilled hand sanitizer on it! What the hell?? I know you sign a waiver, but, to me, that means minor dings, not someone STAINING YOUR BOOK! This is absolutely careless and ridiculous on the part of CGC. I’ve also included pictures of multiple stress marks that were not there and the comparison image I took before sending it off. I don’t send books to you to destroy, CGC! At least have the decency to refund the signing/remarking. I didn’t pay $150 to havemy book “stained.” Someone needs to answermy inquiry, and you need to correct this, CGC!

Hi!
I just bought a copy of X-Men #1 signed by Stan Lee with a COA and an Excelsior hologram sticker, so it’s legit. I’m interested in getting it verified and graded by the OTHER company, but will the sticker (on the actual comic) lower the grade? Please advise. Thanks! -

I just had two of these graded by CGC that were to me were perfect. They only had those vertical spine stresses you described in your post.
Both came back 9,4 and no graders notes.... go figure.
Thanks for the reply. Mine pretty much run the length of the spine. Did yours, too?

Hi. I have a DC Metal #1 Dell’Otto virgin variant that is in great shape, save vertical, color breaking spine stress. I’ve read differing things: that this is due to the heavier paper used, that it doesn’t affect grade, that it definitely does affect grade. What is the consensus on the affect to the grade of something like this? Thanks!

I already received confirmation and was billed for my three books. Also, when you check the main page under you account and status you should see that they received your books there.
Thanks for the reply. I have a free account, and listed all of the correct info/email on my applications, but don’t see anything listed on there. And the tracking shows my package was delivered on the 6th, in enough time before the deadline on the 9th. Maybe mine’s just taking time, then.

I sent something in to be signed/graded for the Todd McFarlane special, but haven’t received any confirmation. The reception date was Monday, so I thought I might hear something then. Does anyone know how long the turnaround time is from when it’s received to when it’s in the system? Thanks!

Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Why don't you return it for not being as-described?
I’m working with eBay right now to get it returned. The seller is not responding, and I still have a few days before I can ask eBay to step in. I was just curious as to the grade. Thanks.

So I won a Marvel Premiere #1 for $100 on eBay that was billed as 7.0 grade. Despite communication with the seller prior to bidding and careful evaluation of the photos, it arrived, and was not as described. The back cover is missing a small corner as well as a few of the interior pages. I’ve included the pics. Could anyone help with a potential grade? Thanks!

I have this decent copy of Thor #165 that I’m interested in having graded. There is some normal wear which doesn’t look terrible, but there is a small corner piece missing from the back cover, left side. I’ve measured it, and it’s slightly less than 1/2 inch. Any thoughts on what this might be graded as or how much that corner will take off? Just curious because I had a Fantastic Four Annual #6 with a few torn and missing pieces from the spine, and it just came back as 6.0 from CGC. I was expecting lower on it.

I’ve been requesting a refund for the private signing/remarking fee. Like I said, I didn’t pay $150 to have my book screwed up or to have some apparent “stain” be on my book.
