  1. Not worth sending at all. Getting them graded would cost you $60 a piece and you wouldn't make that back for the Star Trek Comic.
  2. a) too soon b) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA c) technically, that is the best advice. I can't think of a better comic to own than an unsinged Detective 27
  3. I'd stay away. These days, the gold standard for signed comics (especially moderns) is a CGC Yellow label. This comic wouldn't get you that. Think about it, you found that in a local comic shop, they know what it is. If they could sell it for more, they would. You are not getting a deal on this, that is my guarantee.
  4. Haha, thanks for the explanation and for being a good sport about it. I have a pretty nice 35, maybe I should try too (especially with pre screen).
  5. Unless that movie comes out quick and is loved, I think we'll see another case where high prices like this make more 9.8s come out of the woodwork and the increase in census brings the price down. Because this book aint rare and I am sure there are many potential 9.8s out there. Sure, Spidey 300 aint rare at all and commands a lot, but something tells me Big Barda aint as hot as Venom (well, she is, but not the way it matters).
  6. Woohoo, got another GA book I was really looking for in a recent HA auction: Doll Man 37. And for cheaper than what MCS is selling their copies at.
  7. I don't think so. When I think of profitable flipping, I think of people going to comic stores, buying the best looking versions of the books that are supposed to be hot or variants and then sending them to CGC in bulk for the 9.8 check. But hey, I honestly prefer your kind of flipping, it has a hunting element to it and it's older books everyone already had a chance to own. It has a discovery element to it rather than any greedy factor to it.
  8. Sounds like what DC has been doing with the Earth One books. Sounds good to me, those sell fine.
  9. Contact customer service then and ask what's the protocol if you think something is off
  10. No rule of thumb. it's all about the rarity of higher grades and the demand for the particular book.
  11. ah, didn't know that. Oh well, guess the answer to the OP is: there is no way of making sure you get a 10.0
  12. It's good to be conservative, due to that crease. But since it doesn't break colour, it can be pressed out.
  13. You should be able to submit to their PO Box by mail. If that's not helpful enough, I suggest you call them.
  14. I don't see any colour breaking. I wouldn't call this a printer's crease.
  15. What about my multiple runs of Elfquest? Come on, you know you want them.
  16. Yes, it's possible. CGC offers a service just for that. You send 25 books or more and ask to check which of those books they would give a 10. If they find one, they will grade it and give you 10. The ones that wont get a 10 are sent back to you ungraded.
  17. Only way to know is you'd have to crack it open and shine some light on it to see the stress lines. Was this pressed prior to grading?
  18. Comics are mass produced in printing presses in canada, so yeah they'll probably all have some production flaw. The most common is on the top or bottom of spine. Look at any modern book you own and look in those areas and you'll see what I'm talking about.
  19. That's not the case. If it's a 9.2 overstreet then it could also be a 9.2 CGC. If you aren't submitting books, then the CGC grade doesn't matter since it only applies to slabbed books. Just focus on the overstreet grading guide for those.
