  1. Two weeks .. that's nothing... I'm been waiting over a month for 2 members to get me books... one has been good... and responds to PM's ...the other ..nothing...

I have deadlines of 45 days to file claim with Paypal... but I think they'll still show up.. US postal service must be the most useless group around. foreheadslap.gif

If this happened to me on ebay I would have already filed. I’ve yet to have a package take more than 1 week to reach Canada, usually it’s 4-5 days. Are you certain its the post office and not lazy shipping? And to have a month go by with no response on the other is inexcusable. I don’t want a witch-hunt, but probation without any teeth is not going to do any good. If for some reason you don’t wish to out these people, I would truly appreciate a PM because they are not folks I would want to do business with.

  2. Hey all-received a shipping notification ( 893crossfingers-thumb.gif)and PM today. Seems to have been a clerical error on my $225 worth of books. What is still depressing is that it took my threatening to open a Paypal dispute to get a response back. I am a gullible sort and hope this was all a miscommunication, though I will not deal with this member again in the future. All's well that ends well I suppose! I am very glad to see that this thread is not "blowing up" and that most of our community is true and honest on deals made thumbsup2.gif .

I am a cynical sort; how does a clerical error justify a lack of response to your inquiries? If you don't feel comfortable outing this person here, would you mind sending me a PM? This isn't anybody I want to do business with either.

As for the Question about pre-selling...

    It seems OK to me.

    Think of this:

Person just hears of the grades they got back from CGC on their lastest submission and wants to anounce they are for sale here, but won't have the books back for scans until a few days.

But that has the effect of bumping viable, running sales posts down or potentially off the page. People aren't supposed to post multiple threads for separate books; pre-selling amounts to similar spam.

However not going through with the sales sucks and maybe a 30 day selling ban penalty (not allowed to start threads in the marketplaces) would be a deterrent to such bad practices.

A fitting punshment. But who's going to enforce it? It would be simpler and easier if pre-sales hype wasn't allowed so we didn't need a penalty.

I'm probably not making myself popular with forum sellers with this post. blush.gif

  4. Aww come on, Fay's time here has been hazing-free. Let's give her the treatment! devil.gif

Bring it on , I deserve it tonofbricks.gif and I've got thick skin from working over 20 years in a male dominated industry on the Vancouver waterfront working with the odd animal or hoolligan longshoreman who would make some of you look like choir boys. 27_laughing.gif

But please be nice hazing me. 893crossfingers-thumb.gif

    I was only funnin'.

And now I'm guilty of dragging a worthwhile thread OT. sorry.gif

  5. That's a good point and that's also a question I can't answer since I'm more of the dealer type and would, of course, frequent that forum. I'll defer on this one.

Who cares who frequents it? If I put up a WTB post, I couldn't care less who fills it. Lowest price wins. If a zilliion dealers respond to a WTB post, the price will come down.

I tend to agree with this. Why does it matter who responds? Will forum members be LESS likely to respond simply because dealers are responding also?

In the words of Bob Kaufman, of Bob's Dicount Furniture, "I DOUBT it!" (For you NE board members.)

Plus, it will make the Market less cluttered. sumo.gif

  6. I obviously disagree, and don't believe dropping rule #3 completely out of the rules list would result in much of a change at all, other than allowing the almost-dealers (like BlazingBob) to post their great books here for sale.

Ummm, no disrespect here to either drbanner (who I've happilly done business with) or blazingbob (who I haven't yet, but I respect), but can you explain how Bob is an "almost-dealer"? With his Overstreet ads, website, presence at the big shows and posting in the dealer forum, how does he qualify as an "almost-dealer"? Who's the next almost-dealer? Superword? Metropolis? Chuck???
