  1. When the TV series was announced years ago, I was buying books in lesser grade than I wanted to make sure I could complete my run in case any issues shot up beyond where I wanted to pay. As is often the case, it usually takes me a while to upgrade as other priorities come and go.
  2. If any of you high-end guys are looking to fill holes in your copper FF run or step-up, Bob Storms just added a slew of 9.8s to his inventory.
  3. Nope, just a regular direct. And I goofed, it wasn't GM but Ralston/Purina Cookie Crisp. Here's a copy of the ad that I grabbed from the web. I just came across the ad myself recently but I forget which book. Probably one of my FFs I scanned for this thread. My memory of ordering it is a bit hazy. I had already moved out of mom's at that point and I'm pretty sure I wasn't buying Cookie Crisp, so I think I must've ordered after seeing a box with the offer at mom's where my little sister still lived. I do recall being bummed out at the time since I wanted the ASM #252.
  4. As Lightning 55 said, grader notes are not necessarily comprehensive but it looks like a water/moisture stain not foxing to me.
  5. I've got a couple of these, one of which came from a General Mills cereal box promotion.
  6. Sorry but this is all super vague and still not very convincing. Not saying none of what you say is true, but you aren't exactly providing any factual evidence to back it up, either. Actually, I was thinking great minds think alike. As Shad pointed out, they also look like different staples but I can't imagine why someone would attempt to doctor this book unless they were practicing. I'd also postulate that if it happened during manufacturing it may have been stapled on a different machine than the one used for the press run.
  7. Technically this is Bronze, but since we have others...
  8. It makes me sad when I see SS graded counterfeits like the one you shared because it was likely submitted as authentic and the owner only found out it was counterfeit when they got it back. As Frog once said, maybe yes and maybe no. The seller refers to that book as a counterfeit "variant," as if trying to imply it was an alternate version published by Mirage in the same way that current publishers produce variants of the same book with different covers.
  9. If the books had defects that could be fixed by pressing, then it was a good idea. If the books had defects that pressing would not fix, then it wasn't such a good idea.
  10. Were you planning to slab these to sell? Unless I'm missing something - and I might be! - unless you've got a slam-dunk 9.8 it DD #227 doesn't seem worth slabbing.
  11. Been super busy with work. Need to make more scans, too. How far are we going to?
  12. Being sold by "mabear." Couldn't possibly be connected with "Matthew Beardsley." And it's been said already but it really stuck out for me: Anybody who takes photos like that while driving has to be a complete tool, regardless of what's being sold.
  13. A few months ago Frisco Larson nabbed a nice mid-grade copy on Clink I snoozed on, so I was happy to pick this one up this week, completing my Strange Worlds run.
  14. Was in my watch list, it sold yesterday on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256243806966
