  1. Certain inks tend to transfer easier than others. In this case the texture of the color loss lends me to believe this is/was a storage issue where the actual bag affected the ink. I have come across this many times on books stored in humid conditions in a bag with no backing board.
  2. When I get home I will take a group shot or 5. Have a short box of books I need to submit.
  3. Picked up lots of nice picture frame books yesterday at the Motor City show. Nothing hard to find but Uber high grade copies of Hero books.
  4. Spent money with Dale Robert Bill Pappas Bib Storms Big Ben’s Comics Oasis Nosalgia Inc Overall I spent more on moderns than anything else. I went in expecting to pick up some price variants from Motor City, but they didn’t bring any Left early today as the crowd was getting to be too much. It was my first time at the show so I don’t have anything to compare it to but I think I will do OK assuming CGC’s grading isn’t ridiculous.
  5. Ron, Would love to get get a chance to say hello in person. Unfortunately, I leave Saturday night.
  6. One funny thing I remember is putting the G9K down while we were checking in. In those few minutes someone grabbed it and started walking away with it. Mike Miles saw it and bolted over to retrieve it so fast, he left a vacuum in his wake. I miss those days.
  7. Gathering mold in Arex’s Basement. That was some trip. 6 adults in Bills mini-van and The G9K layed out in the middle of the seats. By the end of that trip we had our own version of Mystery Science theater 3000 going on watching the original Spider-Man.
  8. I don’t have a booth, but we hang out at Dale Roberts booth. Dale always has a super selection of books so stop by and say hello.
  9. There is a chance of that even if you do nothing to the book.
  10. Matt was a pleasure to deal with. Happy to help him replace some of his “misplaced” books.
  11. You would be surprised how many packages I get mailed to me via media mail that are opened by the USPS. It happens more than 50% of the time, and always requiring me to pay additional postage at time of delivery. It may be that the PO by me employs lots of workers that are 1-2 years away from retirement, and they are more “old school” in their approach to the rule book.
  12. They had a thread. It has been locked.
  13. I am sure Voldy having their own in house service has had something to do with it, but the regulars I have that switched over to Voldy when they opened, have for the most part gone back to CGC. When I ask "Why the change ?" has to do with prices realized as the reason.
  14. What if they only need to grade 2,000 books a month to be in the black? While they would have limited resources to invest back into the company (adding magazines, etc.), they would still be able to stay in business as their percentage of market share grew. What I can see is less and less of my customers requesting books be sent to Voldy as opposed to CGC. That is the only metric I can go on.
  15. Not to derail the thread, but most of the CBCS subscribers tend to submit books to keep, or at least they did when I was involved with CBCS.
  16. Could be a roller mark that happened when the inks were still soft. Very common on books like Amazing Adventures #11 Look by the beasts open hand and the Logo.
