  1. A press would help this book, especially the back cover.
  2. I don't remember this picture, or even where it was taken.
  3. Very sound advice here. If you wanted a quick fix to remove the color touch simply tear off that top corner (something I really don’t advocate, but it would be less destructive to do that compared to trying to remove it chemically). On a book like this the impact would be minimal. But it would be better to just buy another copy as the Pontoon man suggested.
  4. If the issues on the back cover do not migrate through the page, they can most likely be cleaned off if dirt or ink transfer. Even if they cannot the rest of the book will present better from a proper press if that is your end goal. I would also recommend never using saliva to see if something on a book can come off.
  5. What I have observed is that it has nothing to do with the amount of time you have been posting here. There are long time members who I ignore because all they like to do is stir the pot, have little to offer or defend their position (right or wrong) ad nauseam. And there are collectors who are new to the boards that I consider close friends and enjoy conversing with them here as well as at shows. It really boils down to the type of person you are, not how long you have been here. With that said, may be time to put a few more people on ignore.
  6. I did the same with my second collection back in 1994. House has tripled in value since then, doubt the comics would have done the same. Two regrets are selling my first AF 15 in 5.0 about 8 years ago. Had selllers remorse immediately. My other regret is not keeping the other two copies of Hulk 1 that I owned. A 6.5 and a 3.0. I could have payed off the remaining balance of my mortgage with them today.
  7. Wow, all this time I have been spelling it wrong. And I'm talking as far back as 1979 when they beat my Rangers in the finals.
  8. I would love to know the algorithm they use that comes up with those prices.
  9. If only there were guys that knew what they were doing.
  10. Seriously. It was right around the time Astonishing X-Men #1 came out. I picked up a few copies and overheard someone at work mention getting them graded.
  11. My first post ever was in reply to someone looking for particular copper age book. I think it was Matt (anfieldfox), so I joined up (after almost 2 years of lurking) and posted a picture of a copy that I had for sale. IIRC it was oldguy who shredded me to pieces thinking I was someone else. Took a few weeks to get that straightened out. Fortunately for me I knew a few board members through eBay so it made the transition a little easier. If I had based this place solely on my "welcome" I would have been gone 1/7/2006
  12. Sometimes it is good to let things get to a point where the dirty laundry is aired out. I still keep private conversations going with those I care about, or who care about me. Was always a firm believer in water finding its own level. p.s. Exactly how old are you?
  13. In my opinion, the first major change in the posting habits on these forums happened when Nik passed away. Nik had no problem calling people out on their shenanigans. He also put on the best grading contest the boards ever had every year. Like anything else in life, things tend to lose their luster, and with the influx of so many who are just interested in making a buck real discussions with comic content have been diluted over time.
