CCS quick press- who has used this service & results?
joeypost replied to btaing's topic in Comics General
Quick press has nothing to do with how fast the books are turned around, it has to do with the pressing process itself. You may get books back quicker if using this service, but it would be based solely on volume submitted to CCS at that time. -
Well, Goebbels said it: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." But to whom does this really apply Sorry, I forgot to add that this is not a quote I would normally use based on the source. I was quoting someone else to make a point.

I wonder if this book lost ink due to sticking to another comic. Have never seen anything close to this as far as production defects involving a Hulk 181. Not the usual speckling or bindery issue you see
-
Please grade me Hulk 181 asm 1
joeypost replied to Kingkongcraig's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Aside from reducing some of the tide lines and removing the wax from this book, a press will do little else. I would also recommend not opening the book like that as it could easily create a spine break The Hulk 181will benefit and a .5grade bump on this book is worth taking a shot at it. -
should i press?
joeypost replied to williamblood's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
The fact that it is an old red label book can be misleading to some. Probably hasn’t been pressed based on the notes, but could come back a lower grade post pressing since CGC has tightened up in their grading since then. -
Pressing a foil comic Wonder Woman
joeypost replied to Steven Wojtowicz's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I know how to do it correctly -
I heard he bents someone's book while signing it, and the guy sat in front of his booth lamenting his (no longer a 9.9) NM 87.

After pressing. Lays flat, but unfortunate color break. This is under high magnification. To the naked eye looks worlds better.

Paper stuck to back of book
joeypost replied to 1Adam12's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
The paper can safely be removed. -
As I suspected all the paper is present. I simply folded over what I could with my fingers just to take an "in-between" photo. I will have a post pressing one tomorrow.
-
This was caused by an impact with that corner of the slab. Like I said...more info to come later.
-
I took the book out of the slab today and observed a few issues that I will share with everyone in the next few days. Here is a magnified picture of the area with the most damage.

Pressing a foil comic Wonder Woman
joeypost replied to Steven Wojtowicz's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
That can be pressed flat, but you will see remnants of where the bends where. Foil covers are very problematic and should not be done by amateurs. -
What you described is everything a presser could do that is bad for the book. In my case, a quick press gets the same attention minus any dry cleaning, etc. The time the book is in the press is the same as the $200,00 book. Maybe you need to be more selective who you use.

What are you basing this on Bob?
