  1. I loved the whole line of Crossgen, with the exceptions of probably only Mystic and Scion. Meridian, Ruse, Route 666, and Negation were my faves.
  2. Excuse my ignornance, Dan, but how many years do we have to hold these for? Rule of 25; what's that?
  3. Thanks for this. I went to 2 LCSs today and neither had a copy. Will have to live my life without one for now.
  4. There seemed to be a demand for this thread so I'm going to start it and see if people really care. The purpose of the thread will be for folks to list books that they believe will "go up in value". You may also want to include your thoughts, like the following: why you think it will increase in value? (%) probability that it will go up. what price do you think it will achieve? how long we should hold it? ie. long term/short term additional notes: First example: book: Amazing Spider-Man #365 (1st app. of Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O'Hara why you think it will increase in value? He may turn out to be the lead character of The Superior Spider-Man (%) probability that it will go up. 80% it will increase very quickly what price do you think it will achieve? $15-20 for 9.6 copies how long we should hold it? ie. long term/short term quick flip-6 months to a year additional notes: if The Superior Spider-Man doesn't turn out to be Miguel O'Hara, this book will go back to the dollar bins immediately So, all of this being said, even though my presentation and delivery may not be perfect, and my prediction (not really mine, btw) may be a joke, there were calls for this type of thread, so here it is. Feel free to adjust and tweak the template above, it was just something to get the ball rolling. My suggestions would be to not laugh and ridicule others, and to take this "investment advice" with a grain of salt. It's quite possible that for every 5 or 10 potential winners, we may only see 1 real winner. Go at it, folks, let's see what books you think are worth keeping an eye on. (thumbs u
  5. I'll let someone else answer. (thumbs u
  6. That's the risk with a no reserve auction. You could put prices on them and try them here on the boards. Just have scans, prices and list them in the right area of the boards.
  7. So I can pick up 10 or so batman 13s for cover. Should I?
  8. The 157 9.2 would probably sell in auction for $75-$125. The 162 9.6 $400-500 The 163 9.4 $150-225 The 176 9.4 $25-75 If these were in a dealer's stock, I imagine they would ask for more. Andy
  9. I thought it was 6th printings that were the best investment.
  10. Buddy should have examined the back cover before staing 9.6/9.8.
  11. Ive always wondered this as well. Ive misplaced my copy but is GIC #45 listed as significant, highly significant or fairly significant in Pedrin's book? He lists it as Highly Significant. According to Pedrin, in the story "Fireworks Hill," one of the characters stands there "...like a rock." In the face of enemy fire, I'm guessing? I haven't read the issue. I think we need the War Report guys to chime in here. (They don't mention the issue in the latest OSPG.) Highly Significant really? When i wrote my post i was about 90% sure it was just fairly significant. This book is then definitely a must have for those collecting all the Sgt.Rock prototypes but how many collectors are actually even aware of this. With the way the current auction stands i think someone is going to get the 'deal of the year' so far. Well, his input may or may not transfer into how the "market" reacts to certain books. This may be an excellent example.
  12. I have never considered it the true first appearance of the Unknown Soldier, however, Overstreet does, and that's pretty much the bible. It does talk about an unknown soldier, but I sure don't believe that is the Unknown Soldier. It just isn't. Now, there are folks that agree and folks that disagree. That's fine, but for me, as you and many others will attest, SSWS #151 feels and reads like his true first appearance, and therefore is his first appearance. (thumbs u Andy
  13. Received a well-packed book that I paid for. Scott shipped very quickly and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. (thumbs u
  14. I reached my goal a couple of times, Mervin, and that was to put together a complete run of the big five. An enormous job that gave me incredible satisfaction. Now, I'm buying books that I like, with the intentions of holding for at least one week, and then finding a new home for them. In seriousness, I would like to build the 10 cent set again, but I'm afraid to start. I absolutely love buying and selling, and I love war books, so it makes sense for me to buy and sell war books. I'm not that good at it because I often lose money, but it sure is enjoyable.
