  1. I agree 100% Since the probie list was Divads brain child I nominate him. funny, since Divad sold some comics to someone on the list and couldn't care less.
  2. Great sale! there's obviously a strong demand for pre-code horror around here. Looks like you could sell another 200 books without any trouble. (thumbs u Andy
  3. We'll see , I consigned my copy of Combat 1 River City pedigree CGC 9.2 to Sparkle City comics. Will be coming up for auction soon. Combat #1 in 9.2 appears to be a $1263 book. It also will soon be residing in Texas.
  4. My guess is it will either be 20th or not on that list. Not just yet.....
  5. There's a fair amount of books that would get to that price range if the grade were high enough. eg. OAAW #1
  6. Damn Fay, you beat me to the punch. WTTB, Billy!
  7. Whoa! It looks like we've got an intelligent collector here. ....weird feeling....
  8. For that amount of money, I'd probably be tempted to go for the Sgt. Fury #1. $3000 just seems so much for the 1st Rock in 6.5, but hey, maybe the bar has truly been raised. I believe it'll increase in value, but I am just thinking of immediate liquidity. If you're in a jam and have to sell it quickly, I think you'd get your full amount back on the Sgt. Fury. Andy Thanks Andy! That is tremendously helpful information. I appreciate it. Not to keep pushing the subject unnecessarily, but what if it wasn't about getting immediate liquidity? Consider other factors, such as; art, scarcity, publishing line, story, appeal, long term return... Would you still pick Fury? No, in this case, I'd go with Sgt. Rock. Art-Rock Scarcity-Rock Publishing line-Rock Story-Rock Appeal-Rock Long term return-Rock Fury is only an option as the vast number of Marvel collectors are now buying Sgt. Fury #1, not because they're war collectors, but completist Marvel Zombies.

  10. Reminds me of back in the day...when the Clone Saga was as hot as WD is now, and at a convention the dealer next to me, after watching me sell through a dozen copies of ASM #149 at just stupid prices, traded me his entire booth (6 long boxes of books, 25 sets of cards, and 2 dozen carded action figures) + $75 for my last copy of #149 which was no better than F/VF. You have to love how insane some people can get in this hobby. Wow, that was you? I ended up selling that #149 about a half hour later for $250. Made some dough and got to head home early that day. (thumbs u Oddly, it was at the end of the show. The guy's girlfriend was making him sell everything, she even had a nice little jar that she kept his wang in....was that you? Yeah. That was me. But things are much better now...

  15. Exactly! +1 (2?) I think we've moved beyond the Valiant comparisons. This has become something else altogether with its multi-media presence and popularity. That's why it's more like the TMNT phenomenon than the Valiant craze at this point. How long before they announce a Walking Dead movie to expand the audience even further? The prices will stabilize and correct themselves from their highs. But I wouldn't expect a steep drop. Heck, 1 may climb up to $3-4k before peaking and correcting itself. Which means today's prices may become the average for 9.8 down the line post-frenzy. Again, I just say, don't simply dismiss this as just another bubble. Okay, how about X-Files.....great TV show, had a movie, too. Maybe there's no "great" comparison, but my main point was/is that this cannot last forever. The latest and greatest always dies off and is replaced by something else. Will this title eventually slow down and correct, in terms of pricing? 100% guaranteed. The X-Files TV show preceded the comic - if the TV series arose from a sucessful comic then it would be analogous. I'm not trying to be rude or dismissive, but the X-Files comparison isn't even close. How rude!
  16. Yeah, that's a fairly good analogy. Although the appeal of WD is broader among age groups. Joe was damned hot for a year or two there in the 80s. Issue 2 was the key of the run due to its scarcity, going for $100 or so iirc. Still, there are issues of Joe that command some good money (1, 21, 155, Special Edition 1) in HG some 20-30 years later. So while the heat cooled overall, several issues did retain their value or increased. The other thing I foresee that argues against WD being nothing more than a bubble is this: When someone asks, 20 years from now, 'what are the best comic runs ever?', I have to think WD will be mentioned. I know I'll be rereading my WD run every 10-15 years. (thumbs u Serious question: Is it a good read?
