  1. Orange comics are comics too, glassman... I appreciate them just as they are
  2. Bearing in mind I know nothing about any of this... I thought maybe natural light might show the color of the inside cover better, but it also makes the edges of the paper look wavy and brittle. Oddly, in person, it doesn't seem nearly as stressed or delicate as some of the other ones I have, just very... brown/orange in color. Not that that's a good thing. Interesting how scans vs photos highlight/hide different flaws.
  3. Wonderful advice, thank you. Kind of what I had in mind in terms of picking out the valuable ones and getting rid of the cheapos. Now all I have to do is find someone I trust amongst a bunch of people telling me not to trust anyone 😂
  4. It would certainly have been ideal if the comics had been stored differently for the last 50 years, but I’m just happy to have this collection at all. Which boxes do you use? Any suggestions for now to store annuals, etc. that don’t fit in the Silver Age bags? Thanks 😁
  5. Only if you assume causation. I was simply stating that this world is so new to me that I was aware of neither the availability of cleaning/pressing services nor the effect cleaning/pressing may have on certain comics grades and, therefore, values. I’m in comic collecting kindergarten. I don’t know enough about anything to argue either way 😂 I’m here to learn and appreciate any advice or insights anyone might be willing to share.
  6. Check mark is a concern of mine as well (as its an obvious thing even a newbie would notice 😂)
  7. Probably a silly question, as I’ve already begun bagging/boarding them (and then ran out and need to get more...) but assuming the goal is to handle them as little as possible... what scans/images do I need to take of them before I do this and put them away somewhere safe until they’re sold? Is a scan of the front/back sufficient? Is there a reason to take photos as well? Photos of any interior pages or just ones with defects?
  8. Thank you very much. Good advice re: pressing/cleaning. It’s something I’m just starting to look into, as I didn’t realize how important or widely done it was.
  9. Thank you very much. It’s quite the collection that reflects a lifetime of passion and dedication from a comic fanatic that I think I’m just beginning to appreciate over the past few weeks!
