    I’m sure many of you knew this already, but I learned that Horrific # 3 cover is a lift from War Fury #1 thar we graded from Round 3.

    Chilling Tales #13 - 4.5 (4.0) +1 Diary Secrets #30 - 4.0 (5.0) +2 Horrific #3 - 2.0 (3.0) +2 Doctor Solar #1 - 5.0 (5.0) Avengers #7 - 7.0 (7.0) 5 points - Chilling Tales looked like the better book over Diary Secrets from the front but all the damage on the back of Tales must have really sunk that book’s grade. Only book I over-graded of the 20, except for HOS 92 in rd. 2. Diary Secrets was still a surprise at 5.0. Horrific 3 had me jumping from 1.5 to 3.0 because I couldn’t tell if or how bad the spine was split. I hedged 50% split and went 2.0, damn. Doctor Solar was a 5.0 or 5.5 for me from the start. Went with 5.0 due to the size and prominence of the marker damage and the right edge damage/fingerprint on the front cover. Avengers 7 reminded me of the Iron Man 55 (7.5) from Season 2 Round 1 that I under-graded badly. The top staple of the Avengers 7 was worse than IM 55. So 7.0 it is. Best season for me by far 23 total points with 9 bullseyes and 5 +1s. Gotta stop those big swingers though; one +4 HOS 92 and one + 5 Motion Picture 110. Thanks again Mike and the fellow competitors. I’ll be back in the Fall to try again.

    CGCMike asked for everyone’s opinion, after the reveal, regarding the graders notes for the two books he had concerns about. Some people were available to respond immediately and others the next day. I’ve always gotten the impression that the participants of these Grading games are extremely grateful and appreciative of CGCMike and his willingness and enthusiasm toward running these games. Having a civil discourse regarding one’s opinion on this unprecedented event shouldn’t outrightly threaten future participation or CGCMike’s involvement.

    @CGC Mike I think the fact that you brought the two specific graders notes for ASM #38 and HoS #92 to our attention means that you may feel they could have a serious effect on the grades submitted. So let the submitted grades decide whether to keep the books for the contest or add replacements in rounds 3 or 4. just my

    More Fun #102 - 5.0 (6.5) 3 Harvey Library #1 - 4.5 (5.0) 1 TTA #11 - 6.5 (7.0) 1 Spidey #38 - 5.5 (6.0) 1 HoS #92 - 7.5 (5.5) 4 10 points I will say I didn’t see the water spots on HoS 92. Would have lowered my grade for sure. 4 points on that book is a tough pill to swallow when the defect is not visible. I’d vote to throw out that book for everyone and move to round three otherwise replace it with another book.

    It is definitely color transfer from the inside covers or first page inside both covers. In my experience CGC doesn’t down grade for it when the book is below an 8.0 and even above an 8.0 it’s rarely more than a .2/.5 hit.

    I hope your experience is better than mine. If it’s like my recent ME return of eight improperly slab books with four of them damaged, CGC won’t press the books they damaged by not sealing the slabs properly in the first place and passed through QC. They just put the bent books in new slab and… WHOOMP! There it is! Your newly slab book with fresh damage after grading and slabbing/QC fail #1.
