And how do you know he got them after the fact?  What proof do you have?  As @revat was simply trying to warn you about - quit presenting conjecture as fact.  There are more information and variables out there than all of us know.  If you can't understand that, then there's nothing further I have to say about it.  Good luck to you...

We all have access to the same info for the most part but your question on how I know came from the article YOU quoted... :baiting:

    Here's two extremely far-fetched out-of-this-world-super-unlikely scenarios:

Imagine this, there's a local comic book store owner, he knows his customer base well.  He knows his usual customers who usually buy the ultra-rare variants generally don't prefer CGC.  At the time of ordering (in the middle of a generational pandemic), he doesn't know how much the comic will be worth or how they'll grade (what if he gets stuck with the CGC 9.2, maybe it's happened before), so he doesn't want to put in the extra $50-$100 (i don't know all the details of op so I assume there was a fee) or so for CGC when he's not sure he'll get extra value out of his customers.  But months later when the book comes out, none of his normal customers are willing to pay the market rate, so he puts it up online for a higher price.

Another scenario is that someone initially wanted it for their collection but doesn't like CGC, and then when they saw the prices for ebay, they changed their mind to flipping.  Wild right?

I understand your enthusiasm for this book, but consider some devil's advocate positions with yourself.

It's not about enthusiasm...  it's just a feeling of a Dylan manoover.

Not everyone buys a comic book so they can flip it...

Yes I agree, however these particular people did so. Again can ANYONE come up with a logical reason why when the graded version is going for double the price????  Why turn down the grading if you are going to flip it???????  My theory is the census reported 7 copies that were NOT 9.8....  crack and sell Dylan style?????

I am repeating the facts that were presented to me by people more knowledgeable about the situation than me.  If i am wrong....  THEN PROVE IT....  otherwise save YOUR assumptions.

Looks like a taunt to me, but that is my opinion.

And I do believe Bleeding Cool's article proved you were wrong - not me.  I was simply passing on the information...

BRZRKR 1:1000 Signed By Jonboy Meyers Rarer Than Those By Keanu Reeves

AFTER THE FACT!!!  JONBOY took those copies after the signing.  Trying to prove me wrong with information that  NOONE had access to since NOONE KNEW because it hadn't happened yet is by definition, revisionist. ;)

Philosophical question: is it revisionist if it's actually correct - at least more correct than the original presented view?  Anyways...

Well, you did invite someone to "PROVE IT" if you were wrong.  Chronologically, such proof must come after your taunt.  So no, I don't think it is revisionist when you openly invite anyone to prove you wrong and then someone does.

U are assuming I was taunting.  Which was not the case.  However if you are going to say my assertion is incorrect then yes prove it instead of just saying your wrong....

The simple answer is that not everyone wants their books graded and slabbed.  No shenanigans - just simple preference.  Its not really that hard to understand.

If your flipping it to make money then it doesn't make sense.  We are talking about in your hand for a total of 30 seconds before listing it...

so if we go down the list, the following assumptions espoused as fact (even though someone very good looking clearly warned someone about that very thing) that are now clearly wrong:

The thing is, he actually did qualify some of his other statements to not be quoted on them or that he was making assumptions.

Words matter.  Especially when a print run is so small, there's a huge difference between "for sale from retail" and "existing copies", and possibly even a difference with "print run".  Something advertised with an original 600 print run may have had 20-100 extras printed in case of unforeseen damage, depending on the situation (with the public never knowing how many extras were printed or how they were distributed).  And independent of how many copies are pre-ordered by shops, other copies could be printed for the artist, the writer, corporate bosses, charity stuff, or in this case the big name actor doing the signings.  That's why making absolute statements about known/unknown copies of limited variants is so perilous and the onus is on the person making the claim to back it up.

I believe I specifically said I was repeating information presented to me at the time which was back in February.

For me, having only recently gotten into collecting graded comics, so far it is 9.8 Spawn #9, written by Neil Gaiman & signed by Todd McFarlane:

    image.png.6d68214a29f893f838c96cd4994007e6.png

    Reasons:

    • Spawn toys were my favorite things to collect growing up (Spawn comics not so much)
    • My sister's name is Angela! (she makes first appearance)
    • Todd McFarlane is one of my idols, but only for his creative prowess as he was quite vicious as a businessman, going against his original creed for starting Image (preserving creator-owned rights) by battling Neil Gaiman for the rights to Angela in courts for over a decade (Neil prevailed then swiftly sold the rights to Marvel)
    • Jim Lee is one of my idols and drew a poster in the book

Which CGC comic is your pride and joy and why?

I have that issue too but with Stan Lee's sig as well as the Todd Father.   The man can draw and will always be my fav....  his spidys are hands down the best ever.
