  1. Like Batman? Sure, Batman has some great covers... But i was thinking more in the lines of MMC, MFC, etc.
  2. if an unrestored #28 comes up there is going to be some very serious competition. I for one will be very much in Bring it on my English friend
  3. I need 28, 31 and 33..........I am only concerned with finding the 28 ( unrestored is the challenge ) Yea, 28 will be tough.. You have an unrestored 36 and 37!?!? If so, please do tell the details. nope...they are not my focus just yet.....but will be once I have "the big 5" which you see pictured at the bottom of my posts
  4. I need 28, 31 and 33..........I am only concerned with finding the 28 ( unrestored is the challenge )
  5. Can you post up a scan for all to see? it is the book on the left..........
  6. Here's what you do in this situation: 1. put your wife in her place -- it's your money, you'll do what you want 2. PM me, and I'll pre-qualify you for no money down financing thru Wells Fargo, we'll ask the seller to pay closing costs, and you won't have to sell a single book. PS ...number 2 will be MUCH easier to pull off then number 1
  7. Both sold about 1 1/2 years ago, and both sold for around $4,200. Which one would you choose, and why ? ..............or
  8. I'm sure this is a "case by case" decision, but for me, a cleaned cover is less bothersome than color touch......a cleaning is just that...a cleaning. Color touch is replacing/ filling in an area/chip/stress line that is missing its original surface layer/pigment. I would imagine I may be in the minority on this one, as a small amount of color touch may represent a repair to 1% of the cover, where as cleaning effects 100% of the cover... With cleaning...you are brightening/cleaning/refreshing what is still there. With color touch...you are replacing something that is missing/no longer there. (seems more severe) ( all this from someone who doesn't buy restored books anyway )
  9. he did indeed, a fantastic job...easily a fn/vf (I grade very conservatively), likely low vf range if cgc'd....luckily the front cover really didn't need much work (only moderate piece fill and c/t), as the back cover was sweet... and, of course, a good ole Pressing! rick pressing .......just kidding Rick
  10. The Man from Planet X is a true Reform School Girl! like pre-code exotic grail. $650 in fine per OPG......... . If an unrestored Fine 6.0 copy of this very rare and extremely condition sensitive book surfaced, it would probably sell for more like $6500. This is a GREAT book to have on your want list
  11. GA is where it's at! That's why I have joined you guys with a GA focus and quest. I like hanging out with winners! Steve
  12. I hope you're right Bronty.....it was one of those comments that could be taken one of several ways, and with the whole email thing vs. face to face to thing, it can be hard to tell sometimes, as many of us have seen all to often on these very Boards.....especially since the comment lacked any of these: ) Or maybe you were drunk. not at 7am

  14. And yet they sold for approx the same price proving that the people with the money to spend made a different decision than most of us would. Takes all kinds... Hey AdamStrange, I could be wrong, but I'm taking this is an unwelcomed sarcastic dig towards me?....... I'll let this one slide......this one
  15. "note to self......do not sell off everything I own to buy up every Superboy #1 I can possibly find"
  16. Man I hope the guy who owns that Superboy #1 isn't reading this thread.....that book is dropping in value every 60 seconds......like Enron stock !
  17. Both sold for $13,800 back in 2002. Which one would you choose, and why ? This is the 1st time Superboy has been used in this thread. .............or
  18. Darnit, you outbidded me on this book Hope you enjoy the book as I thought it was a nice pickup. hello all... I must have missed that one , was it recently auctioned? rick Yep, like last week I believe... I thought I had it too.. Just $50 short ...actually Dark Knight, you could add a "zero" onto the end of that $50, and you would still be saying to me "Darnit, you outbid on this book ".( and Rick would have still missed it ) The nice looking, mid and high grade unrestored Tec 140's with nice PQ just don't come around that often....so I had to seize the moment. A few years ago Heritage sold a CGC NM 9.4 for around $20k . The seller took terrible pics, and the book looks 100 times nicer in person than it did in his auction ( which I'm sure you noticed from looking at my pic vs. the auction pic )..it was a gamble, and this time it paid off. I have also had auction images capture the best part of a books looks, and been very disapointed when I unwrapped the packaging of my new raw "VF" that was more like a "VG" once I saw it close up...warts and all. I am confident another one will pop up somewhere, and you will have another shot.....good luck to you Steve
  19. #140......a fairly scarce book. This copy: Fine +++ unrestored with off-white pages. The 1st Riddler!
  20. Both are unrestored, and both were around $250. Which one would you choose, and why ...........or
  21. While neither book is really blowing my skirt up, I would have to go with the Tec #2 due to: rarity, historical signifigance of being the #2 book in such popular, long lasting title, and the very cool and unique cover art associated with this issue. Mystery Men #1 is a little too for me....but still would be a neat book to own.
  22. One of the biggest joys of collecting for me is the unexpected and unplanned purchase.....you know, when you're scouting around for your next book and all of a sudden..boom!.... you get hit in the face with some "must have" fall from the sky opportunity, and the comic book was never on your want list or on your radar screen at all until that moment. Such was the case with this very rare in high grade, high grade unrestored copy of Archie's Pal Jughead #3 from 1950....my 1st Archie book. As a self-proclaimed condition "super freak", this non-key was a no brainer as soon as I saw it.
