  1. Both sold for around $8,500 2 years ago. Which one would you choose, and why? .........................or 40 for me....'cause I don't buy....you know
  2. Bill, you know I you, but there is virtually nothing more spectacular in the entire comic world than a NM 9.4 unrestored AF15. It is the safest place to park $126k, along with a mid-grade unrestored CGC graded Tec 27 and Action 1.
  3. word for word exactly as I saw it on this one.....Bronty is quickly becoming a candidate for the Gold Boards Awards thread for the "really knows his *spoon*" award as far as I'm concerned.
  4. let's try this again..( I hate it when it's a shut out ). Same AF15 for $126,000, matched up to a more comparable opponent at $119,000. Now which one would you choose, and why??? ......................or still AF15 for me, but not such a quick choice this time around
  5. On May 20th, 2005, both of these books sold for $126,500 at Heritage. Both are NM 9.4 unrestored pedigrees. With your own REAL money at stake, which one would you choose, and why ? ............................or I'd sleep well knowing I instantly chose the AF15
  6. Now which one are you going to choose, with $97,000 of cold hard cash on the line?........ ..................or as my SA past continues to tug on my coat tails, Spidey 1 for me
  7. please help me understand ....the ONLY reason I chose Flash 123 is due to the double cover on the Batman 5. If the Batman was a "regular" 9.6 I would have never compared the 2 books, as the Batman would be no contest against any SA Flash. I have always viewed double covers as an undesirable printing defect, yet virtually all of you found it to be "cool"......why??????
  8. Ok...here's a real wild one I think ( if comparing 2 books to each other can be considered wild ). We have the highest graded Flash123 SA semi-key, and a 9.6 Batman #5 double cover that looks overgraded, and is by far IMO the most 8.0 looking 9.6 I have ever seen...nothing about this book looks NM+.( I know they are grading the inner cover, but we see the outer cover ) both sold for $24,000 in 2004 Which one would you choose, and why? ......................or this is one of the few instances where I don't care what CGC says, that Batman is not a NM+, and I would choose the killer Flash 123
  9. In 15 years of collecting, attending conventions, and talking to other collectors, I don't think I have ever heard once "do you have Red Dragon #6?" PL 16 crushes that Red Nothin'.....I mean Red Dragon.
  10. Both sold for approx. $5,400 4 years ago. Which one would you choose, and why? ..............or Cap #74 for me.....everytime ( which is not that often ) a copy comes up for sale, people go nuts for it....it is a high demand, classic cover, really cool book with striking, rich colors and cover art.
  11. agreed.....Tec 1 has conquered FF1 effortlessly in this contest
  12. There is nothing plentiful about a VF+ off-white paged unrestored FF1. In that grade, FF1 is an equally rare key
  13. Let's try this again, so it's not a such a shutout. I have kept the same FF1, and matched it up to a much more appealing GA book. Both sold for around $14,600 a few years ago. Now what ya' goin' ta choose? My answer is the same for the same reason....FF1...virtually nothing trumps a high grade unrestored FF1.
  14. what's a "besy" copy.....a newly discovered Pedigree with a big "B" on the front cover?
  15. Both of these comics sold for $14,600 back in 2003/2003. This choice mixes thing up a little bit from the norm, comparing a high grade SA key to a low grade GA key. Which one would you choose, and why? ..........................or for me, a previous SA collector, nothing trumps a high grade unrestored FF1...but this is a GA forum....let's see who agrees with me
  16. Both of these beauties sold for $28,500 last year. Which one would you choose, and why? graders notes on MM2 (small amount of glue on spine) ...............or glue or not, I'd go with the MM2 due to extreme scarcity and historical signifigance
  17. Now what are you guys going to choose, and why? both sold for $8,625. The coverless book is Tec 27. ............or
  18. Case in point: 2006 GA Superhero Cover Contest Results yeah...I see your point. I've always been a pre-code, "used in Soti" classic cover buff...guess that trickled down into my choice......revised pick for me -- the 31!
  19. this was my 1st thought also....so then, to make my choice, I looked at it this way: if Tec 35 just brought as much as Tec 31 this year, it's big "break out" year for whatever reason ( the market sometimes works in mysterious ways ), then couldn't the 35 easily surpass the 31 in the next few years ( even if it shouldn't ) if this trend should continue? They are both "classic covers", but 35 has some Soti like shock value that may be driving it to a new, highly desirable level not seen before.
  20. Both of these books have many similarities: both "D" copies both Fine- both unrestored both sold for approx. $17,000 both sold in 2006 both classic covers niether is highest graded copy Which one would you choose, and why? ...................or I find myself double suprised here: suprise #1: That Tec 31 isn't worth twice as much as Tec 35 suprise #2: I would choose Tec 35 ( superior PQ and seemingly only at the beginning stages of its "hotness" )
  21. 100% agree............I would think that quite a chunk of the $42k for the MM9 was based on it being the highest graded copy, but 8.0 is a pretty low ceiling for that book, and it seems almost likely that an 8.5 or better will surface one day. If it was an EXTREMELY condition sensitive and scarcer book like Pep 22, then it would be a lot safer to pay the premium for owning the highest graded copy, as at 8.0 for a Pep 22 as an example, it would not be likey to be dethroned as the best. More Fun 54 does seem to be a better/safer value, although the MM9 would be more exciting to own if $$ was not a factor. For $42k though, $$ is a HUGE factor, which was why I chose the More Fun....it seems More Safe
  22. both of these beauties sold for approx $42,000 about 2 years ago. Which one would you choose, and why? The Marvel Mystery is the highest graded copy .........................or the choice for me....the WHITE paged, NM-, LARSON copy of More Fun
  23. Ok Gents...we have a close one here ( finally ) at this moment: 5 chose Archie 4 chose The Green Lantern
