This Week in your Collection - Moderns ONLY

@SecondBlight , did you ever think .......... ( that should keep him in bed for the next 4 days with a migraine ) For the rest of you .... familiar with the ‘iceberg theory’? You ONLY see the 10% above water - if you saw the other 90%, an iceberg would take on a completely different size, shape, SOPHISTICATION and complexity. A peak at me “below the water line”. I collect ( in part / with passion! ) factory sealed Comics, and Sportscards - all either key issues, Rookies, Origins, etc etc - all with limited / preferably loooooow production numbers. Over time, this population of sealed items will ALWAYS get smaller, as Collectors can’t wait to tear open that packaging, and grade those items. Well... you can open a sealed bag to grade a comic, but you can never “ungrade” it, and seal it back in the bag! Now... I ALSO collect some pretty sweet, non-bagged, KEY Moderns that I DON’T post here — only post a small percentage ~~ iceberg! Pics- some of my recent “factory sealed” eBay purchases ... -

Spoke ( phone ) to a human at eBay Today — bottom line - anyone can return anything for any reason - does not matter who’s right / wrong .... doesn’t matter if your auction says no returns. If they hit that return button, your PayPal account get funds frozen for the amount of that transaction. Only way around it - if they don’t send the item back within 10 days, they will find in the Sellers favor and cancel the return process / unfreeze funds - but you have to call and request it. —- So, eBay will freeze funds automatically if the buyer pushes the return button, but there’s no electronic / automated system to ”unfreeze“ funds - you have to do that ‘manually’ by calling. Short of that 10 day return time limit and spending an hour on hold for ‘the next available....’ - if you’re a seller..... you’re screwed

FINALLY ( after 3 months of buying and sending back About 8-10! ) got this book ( for me / keeper ) from an eBay seller, who got it at the d23 Convention.... and packed it safely and without damage! I’m telling you guys and gals, these bagged NM+ copies are rare — not because they didn’t print enough — but because of all the damaged copies ( not until the mailing process! ) being sold on eBay by non-comic collectors, and their HORRIBLE packaging....

Yes..you are right Beige. At 4 am in my moment of need, I may have envisioned an office in Palo Alto, CA— full of a team of well dressed, educated English Speaking Resolution Specialists who’s job it is to help eBay customers — sipping fresh coffee, nibbling on donuts provided by their Manager, Fred, and eager to assist...... my fantasy was quickly over when I got the ‘issue a refund now scum bag’ auto response....

This effects you buyers, too —- quite a few here, have bought from Me. I was just going to give you all a taste of these — fresh from a sealed case - ‘93 / raw and all 9.6/ most 9.8. Now I Can’t risk it — will have to grade them all, and will send to C-Link. See the trickle down effect of this new “policy” I’m just one guy- what’s going to happen to the raw comics market on eBay, once MANY get burned like I did?

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!

Wasn’t really on my radar until you mentioned it here .... very interesting -
Another HORRIBLE! case of freezing of funds / forced refunds- furious! with eBay’s New?? business model: ‘buyers always right’ —-keeps their payroll costs down / don’t need human resolution specialists— and it’s really nasty! My buyer complained (condition - that’s BS - Sweet! raw 9.6 / can grade those in my sleep ) and then disappeared\~ but the moment he filed the complaint, my funds needed for even a “possible“ refund ~ automatically and instantly frozen by PayPal. (That’s called guilty until proven innocent! ) I asked eBay if they could step in since buyer was Thereafter unresponsive to me and eBay - just disappeared. I sent eBay a response- trying to close the case/ unfreeze PayPal funds. Well, eBay did their investigation - in about 1 second! electronically / no reading of what I just sent them - computer said: showcase-4 - GUITLY buyer: INNOCENT VICTIM Also have pics from the Auction — when / if ? I get these sent back, I will inspect for damage, relist accordingly ( they’re either still 9.6 or not ), and block the current buyer...
