  1. Gold Key had quite a few series I'm learning..

In 1962 Western Publishing dropped it's partnership with Dell Comics & launched

Gold Key as it's own brand of comics.

The Beagle Boys had their own title for 47 issues. This series ran from 1964 to 1979. This was followed by a second stint of 12 issues in 1979 and 1980, also by Gold Key.

  2. One of my favorite Superman covers....usually found in beat beyond recognition condition....or occasionally (very) in 2X Mortgage High Grade. It's a hundred bucks in OSPG VG......I found this one at the Richmond show from Wes Hagan(?) as a VG due to a moisture stain right corner....colors really pop....my kinda book.He had some of the prettiest 50's D.C.'s I'd seen in a while....real nice 6.5 to 8.0 stuff. GOD BLESS...

Cool book and great addition to your collection. :headbang:

  3. Yeah, it was. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons, but lost interest by the 3rd. The 3rd season wasn't that funny, and what humor there was seemed forced.

I also remember enjoying My Favorite Martain. The TV show that really faded fast for me was "Land of the Giants". zzz

On the other hand they pulled the plug too quickly on "The Time Tunnel". rantrant

  4. Got these at the Richmond show this weekend, from Guy Rose. The Fight has 2 Kamen stories and 2 Baker stories according to OSPG. The Planets are always cool, but this 53 is neat....an SOTI book with stories by Whitman, Evans, Baker, and a couple others I don't recognize. It missed having an Ingles story by a couple months. The 72 is missing a bean sized chunk from the back cover spine all the way to the centerfold where a Mylar tradgedy occured...otherwise a 9.0. Unlike most of Guy's books, this one was pricey even with the flaw....but it seems to be hard to find above fine. His other books are usually priced very fairly....cheap in many cases. GOD BLESS....

  5. I thought I would work in a Halloween cover? Tis another rag-tag survivor of the comics I've owned since I was a youth.

Cool! I never even realized that title had survived to the Silver Age! I'm more a fan of Nancy's aunt Fritzi Ritz though than I am of Nancy:

If you like the Rocky Gold Keys, you might like these as well:

I can see why you might be a fan of Nancy aunt Fritzi Ritz. :cloud9: If I recall, Nancy and Sluggo # 190 is about 2nd or 3rd from the end of the entire run. I have one issue of the Sparkler, an early example of the Nancy & Sluggo phenomenon. I will have to post in a G.A. thread at some point.

Great Terry Toons books, epecially the "Summer cruise" issue. :headbang:

  6. Cool! The #20 is one of the ones I don't have.

Beautiful copies, especially the 23. :applause:

I gave my copy of #23 to a cousin a few years ago. He was about 13 at the time. I do recall asking my uncle if his grandson ever shared the comics I donated. He replied that they were well tucked away for safekeeping.

  7. Some observations about the covers I posted:

Have you ever seen a pink room before on a comic?

Why is Pa Kent still wearing a tie?

If the box of marshmallows are full, where did the one come from on the skewer? For that matter, who eats roasted marshmallows in their living room?

Murphy Anderson can draw women....baby got back :D

Would you really leave your non super powered young son sitting on a fence while you just flew off with his super powered brother?

Just some of the thoughts of a silver age DC collector...

Ahh the powers of observation. :headbang:

In Superman #89, one wonders why Superman had to lift up the corner of the building, when he was noted for digging at super speed. hm
